How Many People in INDIA Speak Fluent English, Any idea?

Hardly 20% peoples of india speak fluent english....

 

fluency in english, what does it mean? , i think 10% of indian population can speak English perfectly. 30 % of Indians can understand English May be More. In the south India Percentage of English Speakers is VERY High. More than 50% People can speak English because of nature of their work. (TOURISM) , Language play very important role. widely Used language is Hindi then English.

What about the Filipinos? I think they can speak English too and they sound good. There are also call centers there.

 

I think only 5% of indian people can only speak an fluent english....But india is the only country which has more than 345 languages....is equal to world's total language i think.....So english is just one of them.....SO it will very hard.....

 

I used to work in a research group with 4 Indians and they could all speak fluent English. I think they were probably taught English by another Indian, so I estimate there are more than 4 people in India who speak fluent English.

And, people is literate once they can read and write. It's not certain if the language is English!

How about speaking fluently? It is not necessary to be a literate or an educated to speak a language fluently!

why are we debating on this subject ? still for those who does not know that India is the only country where you will find almost thousand languages as mother tounge in various parts of this proud country, still people speak well in english (in whatever percentage) and english is very much well accepted language in all the parts to communicate,
what would you say about those countries like Argentina or any other latin American country where there is only one language spoken and accepted and that is there mother tongue only.
So guys India is the other name of versetality be it language or anything else.

There is a fair amount of people in India who speak fluent English. I met a taxi driver, who speak very good English, I was actually amazed at how well he was able to speak. He also mentioned he was born and raised in India.

 

I have many Indian friend. Most of them is very fluent in English. But for me as long as i can understand, it's enough for me.

 

Fluent English- Not more than 10-15 %.

Fluent English which is grammatically correct- 3-5 %

I am an Indian though and its not a matter of shame IMO. Its not our mother tongue.
