How many people have Adsense on their blogs?

    Hi guys n gals.

I've got a blogger.com blog and of course there's the option for Google's Adsense adverts to be put on there. My question is, do you feel the AdSense advert may cause people to click away from your blog without scanning/reading through it first?

My blog does have an image for each post so it's not just text (which I think makes it look more friendly) but I'm just thinking by putting an Adsense advert on my blog it would be driving hard-won traffic away onto someone else instead?

    Thanks!

Everyone puts adsense. As long as it not obstructing your blog reader in any way it is ok I suppose.

Thanks TB. Do you think it makes much difference where it's placed on my blog? Just under the top banner which is one of the options I'm a bit dubious about as people may click away too quickly! But at the bottom of the blog it may not get much viewing. Does anyone really make much money off their Adsense blog advert anyway?

I do not keep adsense on my blog there was ctr less than 0,1% so i decided to take it off, i know that i could make some money from it even with such low ctr however i prefer to loose some cash by not placing any ads and instead make my blog look more professional, on the other hand if i would had ctr like 2% then i would keep those ads on my blog.

It all depends on traffic at your blog. I have added G adsense at my few blogs but not that much success though all are 3-4 months old. If you are getting good enough traffic then adsense is good for you. Obviously at header its helpful (not at bottom).

    DON.

That's not true. I have adsense on one blog, but I am not a huge fan. The payouts are getting lower, and lower each day, and it seems a little smarter to fill that valuable space with a product or affiliate link that pays more.

Secondly...aesthetically, adsense needs to update how ads are displayed. Although you can change the colors to suite your blog, or website, they still look like classified ads, and they are so prevalent around the web that I think it turns a lot of visitors off, because it has been abused.

Personally, if I am going to send a reader away to another site, it's either going to be one of my own, or a least one of my affiliates where I can make some real money, not the trinkets that Google pays out through this program.

Not me, i did a comparion with a few other publishes and google didn't perform better than the other ad networks i use now. I can't say that with the current earning i can quit my job but i can work less :D

Thanks Arkserver. Please can you suggest some other publishers not as prevalent like Google where viewers could see something different? Regards

I'm no longer running Adsense on my blog. I've opted to add a three small 125 x 125 affiliate banners instead for products and services related to what I blog about. I completely agree with this statement.

I go with this any time any day... I had two blogs on forex and stocks that where making me pathetic amounts on adsense, but i removed adsense and instead put up an adsense look alike that links to my clickbank products and saw over 100% rise in returns. If you have a blog without much traffic go with affiliate marketing IMHO

adsense is great for me now as i'm still having medium amount of traffic. And yeah I agree when the traffic go huge, you will have more option to monetize your blog

From experience, it's not the amount of visitors that your site generates but the type that you should be concerned of. I.E. diggers are less likely to click ads than visitors from organic search. Ad placement is usually the key though

I don't use Adsense. However, in future, I may do so.

Many people do, as you should already know.
An ad would not hurt so add one and more later depending on the results
