Spent most of the day taking full advantage of the forum search feature and it seems almost all of you making a decent income have literally 1000s of pages of content indexed. Unless the sites in question are directories or some other dynamic site that adds its own content automatically how is that possible? My new site after a few of days of writing articles has only about 15 pages. Now if I kept this up for a year I'd only just have 1000 and would have to have made 20 odd sites in different fields just to give myself enough to write about. Do you guys litterally spend every day writing content? My original plan was to get the site up to about 30-40 pages, but now it seems like that's simply not enough to attain good traffic and rankings?
I literally spend 3-4 hours a week coming up with new article ideas....then outsource the writing. But there are many ways to get that many pages up. Each thread here is a page. Forums are a great way to build sites. The best advice I can give you is make your sites interact with the user. Let them voice their opinion, question, comment or concern. People love to do that. Forums, blogs and a few other options are great ways of "pulling" people into a site, making THEM add the content and CREATE the pages. You writing the content yourself can become very cumbersome! I wouldn't want to do it!
Well voasi... is correct... thats the only reason hoe oyu can get 100's of quality content pages in a go! from a forum and blogs.... Writing yourself is very good .... and i would suggest that you keep it doing that... and just have a forum and post few articles there too and you would find that you have a good site up in couple of months... Manish
Don't take this bad. Quallity is better than quantity. Even that you have the 1/50 of an article database site with 50.000 pages, your content is unique, and that's a great value for search engines.
Well my current site is using a blog as a CMS (with comments disabled at the moment). Would you suggest enabling them? I'm quite worried that I'll end up spending too much time moderating their posts. That's what I was hoping to hear really, I would have thought that a directory site with a ton of pages wouldn't be ranked so well. But then again there seem to be a lot of people here with 1000s of pages and doing well seemingly because of it.
