download from http://www.intelli-mapper.com, it can generate for upto 5000 pages. Should be good enough for u. My requirement is a lot more.
AFAIK, as long as you don't go over the filesize limit, # of links is upto you. I would put all links.
There is no need to include those pages such as login pages, admin pages, etc. It's better to include only those pages you display to visitors, and for those only for your administration, it's better not.
Generally Google allows up to a 10MB XML file. Your sitemap should be no bigger than that. Go to www.makeasitemap.com - Here you can create unlimited pages XML sitemaps.
Most programs will offer an option to split your sitemaps into multiple (and create sitemap index file) should you exceed the limit, 50,000 urls. (I like to set the limit lower, e.g. 25000)
Yes there is Theres lots of reasons to not want to have many pages indexed. For instance on my forums I restrict LOTS of pages from being indexed by the robots.txt Infact I think the only pages that are indexed are the viewpost.php page. Everything else is junk and weakens my keywords.
Don't add all of your pages! the sitemaps are supposed to help make spidering your site more efficient. Why would you want Google to visit the printer-version, post-reply page, quote-previous-message, buy-now, tell-a-friend pages that are EXACTLY the same for every actual content URL of your site? Let the search engines (and your visitors) concentrate on the important stuff... content! Leave your 'useful to a human' pages out of your sitemap. These links make the forums, stores, and rating sites become what they are, but when I run a search for something, I surely don't want to land on some tell-a-friend page if I haven't even read the article. Trimming these types of URLs from your sitemap allows the search engines to dig right into your articles, product descriptions, and the main pages that really count on your site. The other URLs waste the time that the spiders spend on your site while they could be spidering additional pages full of good, rich content.
It seems to me good advice. But another question is this something recommened by google. sorry I want to confirm it more.
