How Many Pages Are Indexed For One Article Marketing Submission? (See The Results)

My latest article marketing case study answers the question: "How Many Pages Are Indexed For One Article Marketing Submission?" for the following five services:

    Unique Article Wizard
    SEOLinkVine
    ArticleRanks
    Article Marketing Automation
    Free Traffic System

    This is how it works:

    1. I write/spin an article with my article writing software. This basic article is used with each of these services (with some important changes.)

    2. A unique name is created to be used for each of these five services. The same basic name is used ("Vernon Huffington") but with different middle initials for each service.

    3. As of right now (July 26, 2010) there are ZERO results for a phrase search ("with quotes") for each of these unique names.

    4. Now I (and anyone else) can check Google to see how many results there are for each of the services. This tells me how many pages are indexed for one article submission with each service.

    ---

I'll be updating with the results, but the great thing with this case study is you can actually check for yourself.

Unfortunately the answer to this will always vary. The reason is the kind of article (topic etc) you submit ultimately determines how many sites will take it. Even then the results will always vary. One way to see this is just submit the article twice, spun versions, and see what the results are for whatever service you are using. More than likely you are going to always get different results. However, having said that some services most likely will be able to provide a better return on your money and may have larger lists than other providers. I think this is the real question. Which article submission services actually deliver and send your article out to more sites than others?

creztor - of course the results will vary. I didn't mean to imply that the answer would be the same every time, that would be an insane thing to think.

And "Which article submission services actually deliver and send your article out to more sites than others?" is exactly the point. The point is to check up on these services, to make sure they are doing what they say they are doing. And to see which ones are giving me the most bang for my buck.

Thanks zurpit - I'm already seeing some indexed results (the very first day) ... specifically the SEOLinkVine and ArticleRanks submissions are already showing some indexed results.

Good case study. Some variables to consider are scraper sites which might not give link back credit. If I run through my list of 300 article directories manually I can flood the SERPs for a certain phrase. http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q="tro...=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&fp=ac423823ab701479

Shows about 8k results. Granted it's not the best ever but certainly there are sites in here that are pulling the description, or snippets of the article without linking back. That and no one searches this phrase.

Idea for a new case study as well:
Submit 10 articles to just Ezine linking back to a page that has no other links. Submit 10 articles to Buzzle linking back to a page that has no other links. Submit 10 articles to the 300 working article directories sites each. Be interesting to see if the one submission to Ezine or Buzzle outweighs the mass syndication. Would really help put things in perspective, whether article writing ROI, or article syndication ROI.

FlightCenter, that's an interesting idea. I would certainly be surprised if the mass submissions didn't outweigh EZA/Buzzle since that would just be a bunch of links from one domain... but yes, it would be worth testing.

I may try something like that in the future.

Of course the hard part is, how do you compare them? You'd have to try to take away the variability of the landing pages so you'd want them to be on the same domain. And to compare SERPS they'd have to be targeting the same keyword. It's difficult to get real scientific with these case studies, but I think if you look at the data from multiple tests like these you can get a good idea for what works and what doesn't.

I've got some results to share from this now. These are not final results (the internet is not static after all) just the numbers thus far.

#1 Unique Article Wizard: 68 indexed pages in Google
    #2 Free Traffic System: 34
    #3 ArticleRanks: 24
    #4 SEOLinkVine: 21
    #5 Article Marketing Automation: 10

Many months later I've got an update on this. These numbers should be interesting as an indicator of what longer term (about 6 months) results are like with these services.

UAW: 496 (but Google shows 63 results when you actually try to click through and look at them - going through twice to push it.)
    SEOL: 246 (39)
    AMA: 51 (39)
    ArticleRanks: 47 (39)
    FTS: 38 (23)

You can see that when you go through to the actual results you can see that the huge leads for UAW and SEOL disappear, although UAW still holds a nice lead - SEOL, AMA, and AR all have the same 39 #.

Overall I'm very pleased with the results of this test and I continue to use (and recommend) all five of these services (although I do recommend UAW, AR, and AMA over SEOL and FTS for a variety of reasons.)
