Hello! Google ranking pro's Currently i got PR 4 for my main Site and PR3 for forums , the site has around 33 000 quality backlinks, 400 UV daily around 80 pages on main site with 145 articles, predicted PR 6 ! Since i am not really sure, but how many links would u add on your main site page , i don't wanna loose my PR 4 and i know it can happen if you got way too many out going links! I also have a deeper Link page , called Links where i got 3 different categories with around 12 out going links and those are going out from my PR2 different page! So what would be the amount of Links you would recommend me to keep on my main page, currently got 6 , under Partner section ! Any advice would be highly appreciated vai
I don't think outgoing links belong on the main page of a site you are serious about. Nofollow them all and bury any future links in a 'Resources page'. If you don't want to upset people with nofollow slowly reduce the font size while adding more links to your deep pages.
Small said it best. The last thing you want is for search engine crawlers to go to other sites when they crawl your site. Keep them to a minimum. Keep outgoing links at 0 on your main page if you can.
oK Cheers will do but do you guys think it could effect my main page PR , with the amount of backlinks i got etc ?
Not sure how G treat outgoing links exactly but I've read an article from MSN newsletter saying relevant outbound links help with ranking as well. But I agree a lot of them would be a problem for several reasons.
Yes, G looks for relevant outgoing links. But keep them to a minimum since it affects the PR. Also for other links no follow it.
I agree that outgoing relevant links are good. For me this means links from my deep pages to the deep pages on other sites that are on the same specific topic. I would think a website's home page can stay most relevant by linking to pages on the same domain. When i think about people's navigation habits the home page is the place people often go to navigate within a site, not look for further info off site. Based on this human nature and home page outgoing links often being generally more general i think the search algorithms would prefer not to see outgoing home page links. maybe you could use this argument and approach your link partners then shift the links to pages where it will be likely to benefit your users and serp more
Your right its better not to have any out links on your home page just use your links page for out links.
