record beaten on may 20 th, up to 476 on a 5' time basis... never thought, i could go this much.. Not may subscriptions nor posts anyway.
I think you semi-missed the point I was making. You really don't have a forum in the traditional sense. It's less of a community than it is a support forum for your software. I have the same thing at MybbCentral.com where I delete lots of crap posts and with 20 posts a day I'm happy. The goal there just like your site is to have very targetted conversations not general discussion. You might think you're running a forum but really you're not. You just have a forum as part of your site. You could probably convert to blog software with relative ease. You're doing apps and information and using forum software to deliver it. Read my comment again. I stand by it. You don't really run a community. As you say you don't even encourage registration and for a time had it disabled. You even encourage a bugmenot login on your registration page. You've got a great site and a great project. I just thought it should be pointed out that when you're giving out all this forum advice that you really don't have a traditional community that people are probably asking for assistance with.
This is an interesting comment. I only diverge on the part of converting to a blog as I don't see them as interactive enough. We can do just the same as a blog with forum but the other way around is far more complicated. Especially when it comes down to who writes good articles. A friend of mine with a very popular blog once asked me to run a forum with him at his site to help him increase the participation and didn't worked, one experience gone wrong. I do see a forum as a community and that is the reason why it is not bounded to only provide support, although I recognize support as an important catalyst to ensure enough motion to keep it going on the critical years. Perhaps we have very different perspectives on how a community and a forum should look alike. I only see interest in maintaining technical forums while I see you manage to open southpark and other diverse forums while still keeping them active. Thumbs up for that.
Oddly I don't think I ever answered the OP's question about my online visitors. I pretty much idle between 500-800 at all times in any 5 minute period. I had it set for 15 minutes but the online was so big I decided to lower it. I have over 10,000 members login per day on the site.
