How many of your users still use IE6?

I haven't checked my visitor's browser stats in a while until today...

One of my larger sites has almost 15% of total visitors using IE6.

Out of the IE users only, 35% use IE 6; 22% use IE 7; and 41% use IE 8...The other 1% or so use IE 5.5.

I am astounded that 36% of my IE users still use an atrocious, unsupported, out-of-date product!!

What IE version are your visitors using?

From my website statistics, i can see that a vast majority of my website visitors are using Google Chrome & Firefox.

The rest are Opera and IE 8.

I am glad that there is only 3% of visitors only using IE 6.

    Regards,

    Thanks for your input everyone...

I wonder if it has something to do with location??

My visitors from places like Indonesia, Philippines and South Asia seem to have more users using older IE versions. Whereas, most of my Australian users seem to have IE 8.

    Anyone else seeing that?

yep, same here, users from china use IE6 even more, like 40% of all.

My guess is, it has something to do with numbers of illegal versions of XP in the region.
Since, cracked version of XP would not run windows update, hence, explorer will not be updated to 8....
and we all know who is mother of all fakes :)

Do you IE6 because your OS is not compatible with a higher version? I think this could be a major reason that people don't/can't upgrade.

Very true!! Fortunately not everyone is onto that one yet.... Although I have seen scripts around that try to stop the Adblock functionality. Never tried one myself, but could be an option...Anyone tried that?

Most of users don't think which browser and version they are using. I think only seo webmaster mostly use latest version of IE and firefox. Only thing we have to take care that our site properly run in all browsers and all version of browsers.

I disagree. Most users do think about their browser and that is why firefox and chrome are fast gaining popularity. They will not always be considering the same factors as web professionals however.

If you click on the internet explorer link it should give you the breakdown of versions.

That surprises me...Of all organisations I would think that IT companies would drop IE6 asap. Where did you hear that?
