How many of your opt-ins confirm?

I've just started building lists pretty recently and have noticed only about half of my sign ups actually confirm their subscription. Is this what I should normally expect? Or after a longer period of time does it eventually start picking up?

For example, one list I just started recently has around 75 leads but only about 40 confirmed.

    What's your experience?

It really depends on your traffic and your offer. I've gotten as low as 10%, but as high as 80%.

I wasn't really asking how many conversions you get for the mailing list but rather how many actually confirm their subscription once they've signed up already. You know those confirmation e-mails, "please click here to confirm your subscription" :)

If the site and its visitors/traffic are highly targeted, and the benefits of the registration (and thus the confirmation) are clear, then you should get pretty high conversion. I see 70% - 80% when the above criteria are satisfied.

I just launched my first autoresponder series and didn't even think to check my unconfirmed subscriptions until I read this post! Thanks for the reminder.

I just checked my stats and I'm running at a 60% conversion rate. Based on the feedback in this thread so far, I guess I'm doing o.k. - but there's room for improvement.

It would be interesting to find out why people don't confirm. I wonder if the autoresponder is getting dumped in the bulk/spam folder or something???

I wonder myself. Although, I have tested messages and such with various e-mail services like hotmail, gmail, my ISP's and a couple others and they seem to get delivered just fine.

I wonder if it's because people tend to get a lot of spam anyways and the e-mail just sort of gets lost in there:confused:

I am currently at 52% for that same campaign which seems kinda low :/
