I have got loads of traffic from Reddit with high quality articles but not much of that traffic converts or subscribes. Worth doing but do not make it your focus and do not think you are doing great because of the hits.
Yeah I agree, I think I became a bit to reliant on reddit traffic. I have turned my attentions to twitter recently, i have grown my followers to 1.3K in a week and am starting to receive a steady consistent number of visits per day.
I use reddit to promote my funny videos website.. Also it is a good place to start for a newly built website which needs attention from google. Posting in reddit helps the site to get recognized immediately and if the content is viral you can expect some serious traffic from reddit.
For me, reddit is almost a gold mine with the best audience that I can wish for. I use all platforms for marketing (fb, adwords, bing and etc) but for reddit it's like a completely different ball game. The audience is just not only refined, but it's the best of demographics one can find. Most of the traffic you get from reddit is specific to your niche, but even then you've to thoroughly research reddit and the subs over there to launch a good campaign. It is one of the best free platform to kick start or just validate your ideas.
Interesting topics are best shared on reddit. It is not just a social bookmarking site (like before) but also an online community where people get to share their opinion. It is also a way to get viral.
