I have just started using Reddit as a website marketing platform. Each time I post a link my traffic spikes. Its a great way to start discussions on the posts you post up. Let me know your thoughts
Interesting you mention this as I have recently reviewed a few products about using Reddit and was thinking of trying it out myself. Any tips?
I have found a few subreddits that cover a a posts im trying to market. For example, I have recently written a post covering Microsoft's SCCM, I went over the the SCCM subbreddit and posted the link (Make sure you don't spam). It worked great, my reddit post was upvoted (liked) and reached top in the "hot" topics in the SCCM subreddit. As a result of this my traffic spiked. The key is finding the subbreddits that are similar to your niche, and offering opinions and guidance to other members. When you post up a link people aslong as it is truly helping the members of the subreddit they will take a look.
Let me get to the point about Reddit traffic, it's good, fast and can boost the traffic to your site hugely. The problem is you need to come up with constant high quality content that will be accepted by the redditors, which may be consuming. Also there is the problem that most of the reddit users will be only one time visitors, unless you are lucky and have a websites that offers a lot of things that the individual is interested in. Basically Reddit is good for short term traffic, if you are looking for something that will give you good traffic for a long time, it's not Reddit.
Reddit is one of the best sources of curated content. It has its minuses but let’s face it, there is no better alternative yet.
Honestly, Reddit is not the right platform to do marketing as the users often hate direct marketing. What you can do is your content sharing and that too in non promotional way.
If you're producing good content, the rest takes care of itself. Additionally, you shouldn't be using the social networking site just for promoting your own sites.
Reddit is one of the strong social signals on web. You can get great response if know proper method. Things to know are listed below. * Must have minimum 100 Link Karma before sharing a direct link of your blog or site post. * Create an account on Imgur.com and try to increase link karma through sharing stuff from imgur to reddit. * Visit these links karmadecay.com (where you can check your stuff if already available on reddit or not) as you need to share unique stuff for great response. redditlist.com (List of all categories on reddit) * Must be familiar with each community rules before posting on reddit. * Try to find best relevant community to share your stuff on reddit.
Reddit traffic is great, but Reddit users tend to be selfish freeloaders who want free information and fun. So ignore it.
I've used it in the past, however I don't really think my end user demographic resides much on Reddit. In my estimation, Redditers hate marketers like us lol. (Not scientific, just my hypothesis. Who agrees with me?).
I sort of agree with you, its not so much redditers hate marketers or marketing. They just really dont like "Bad" marketers or marketing If you offer some good information in a reddit post it seems to over shadow the fact your marketing something
It's better to use Reddit than not to do it. Consider it just like it's only one thouthands part of all the work, as it is in fact.
Reddit can be very effective if your material is really worthy of note. It can highly increase the traffic to your website, besides many internet issues use the best materials from Reddit for their own resources.
i've not used it yet. I would never want to come across spammy so would need to learn how to do it properly
@kendosspc I know what you mean, if you leave a comment or make a post literally leave your URL, then yes this would be spammy. If you incorporate your URL into a useful informative post, you'll notice a huge traffic spike to your site.
