Just wondering how many people outside the US use hosting/servers located in your own country? Or is everyone using US based hosting?
i use one off shore one once and it was soo soo slow.. I have also used UK also its ok but US is prefered
The server should be located in the country you want to rank the highest in as google uses geotargeting: http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/website-country/.
I know. That's why I'm asking I pay crazy money to host some of my sites in AU (compared to US hosting), but it pays off in the long run.
I use UK hosting for the 'sites that matter', and US hosting for those that are of less importance. Mission critical, so to speak. According to DigitalPoint's geo-tracking tool, my company is based on the Isle of White, some miles away from the actual business location. Hell, even the servers aren't based on the Isle of White I've never quite got this...why isn't our company listed in 'Find a business' on Google Maps, which allows you to measure the distance between point X and point Y? Thus helping me slightly understand the geological placement of our site. Our site has a PR6, 9 sitelinks (2 blocked), 9,000+ backlinks...yet, nowhere to be found!?!
I use Us hosting most of the time. I only use hosting out of country when i make site for that country only.
