I'm making now about 25% of my income with AdSense. About 10% comes from affiliate programs, so I believe I need to stay with my day job.
I don't get any income with online stuff cause it's been like 3 weeks I've got the legal age to do money related stuff online. I hope to be making at least 20$/month online in 6 months. If possible, better. Considering the interest I have in this topic now, it could get really interesting, I just hope that things will work out.
I live in Canada. Sure, I could have been doing "illegal" stuff stating I was 18 to get a paypal account and all that stuff, but I rather be legit.
I'm at a crossroads at the minute. My degree finishes in June and i'm torn between making my online work my 'real' job or getting a day job and continuing my online work as i do now...
Facing the same problem though I see it more like a solution. I make money online, which helps me pay my stuff to do the real job I want to do: Electronic engineering. I hope I can make enough money online to start my own company. That would be amazing. But for now, I'll have to go through the long road of learning internet marketing.
$20 a month would be very easy. I would aim for something like $20 per day. and then in couple years $20 per hour!
I left my day job in 1997 at a spry 21. It was a good job too - but just kinda burnt out. My websites were making maybe $500/month in those days...Best advise in this thread:
I've not had a real job for 6 months now and I love it. Just work on your online advertising and you'll see the rewards. I don't know about you but I hate people telling me what to do all day! Commuting to work, rush hour traffic ... all for what? leave home at 8:00am and get home at 6:30pm or later if overtime is involved!
Peter, this is what I do everyday. Commuting to work, dealing with rush our traffic, etc. I am doing my best towards leaving my job. I want to work very soon for myself. Congrats to everyone who has made the jump! I will be there soon.
But how much more opportunity is there left? Everyone talks about building up a good content strategy, publishing articles and whatnot. How many more article sites is there room for? How do you find a 'topic' to gear your site towards?
Currently i make enough online to quit my day job but i don't for two reason.. medical and health benefits at my day job plus i love my day job and it pays well... But if my earnings continue to rise over the next 3 years i may consider quitting I'm 26 yr old EE
How many hobby clubs and people with specific interests out there or how many sites that are out there for a niche that people continue go to just because its the only option make it better then they come to your site
There should be plenty of room for growth. If Internet users continue to grow at the rate they have been it will be years until the number of quality sites has saturated the user base. One way you could maximize your potential is to target demographics that have the largest growth rate. That would be Africa, Latin America and Asia. The best way to find a topic for your site is to start with something you are interested in. That way you will stay with it whether it is making money or not and eventually it will.
Guys, dont take life so seriously, you will never get outta it alive. Btw, i work as a freelance coder (actually some seo and website making stuff) and also am a student of a distant learning course (Comp Sc engg 2nd yr) and yeah the coding pays me nice but Its more work and less pay due to the competition its been there, so I'm New to this Adsense (Bermuda) Triangle. Let's see, what happens, I dont think i'll need a day job
Good luck on your journey. I think it's a long road until you make enough cash from advertising you can live only from it. Maybe with affiliates selling you could do a lot better, but I'm not a specialist. I wish I was. I hope I will.
The internet and adsense are here to stay for atleast 10 more years So, therez oppurtunity everywhere, u just need to seek it. God Bless
Thanks, Btw it doesnt needs for you to be rocket scientist to make few hundred dollars everymonth , It's really as easy as googling. If you can google, you can earn
