I will not leave my job as its a good part time job. Working part time on adsense is enough to make money out of it.
hopefully another millionaire in the making!but you need to finish atleast high school..but good luck!
Going into business for yourself takes risk but it is those risk takers who inspire innovation and usually have the most to gain. It doesn't always work out the way you expect but with the right mindset you do usually get to some form of your original destination. There is nothing against having a "day job". Some people like that kind of security. Some people like their life as it is and have no ambition to pursue anything further. There is no shame in that lifestyle and it doesn't make those people any more or less fulfilled. But the world also needs people who are willing and able to take a risk. People who DO want to strive for something more and maybe go against conventional wisdom and social patterns. I have found that most people who are extremely talented and capable of so much more are just afraid of failure, and will choose the safe road even at the cost of financial, psycological, and emotional success. It happens in relationships too. (guys who will never ask the pretty girl out on a date because they are afraid of rejection. Or people who might sabotage a great relationship for fear of commitment.) "Leaving your day job" also assumes that the only reason you have your day job is for the money. It doesn't consider the fact that you might really love what you do. Some people think that making money comes at the cost of happiness. As if you can't actually enjoy building sites, watching them grow, and researching new ways to make more money online (or at least making money more efficiently). If this is what you love to do, then keep doing it. If it is only for the money, there are a lot of ways to make money in this world.
That's an excellent point. I love doing web stuff (and I find the technical side interesting for its own sake), but I'll only build sites that are based around my passions. I couldn't face doing one on a topic that held no interest for me, however potentially lucrative! For me the process has to be as enjoyable as the end result, or it's just more 'work'.
I never started The TechZone for money. That was a hobby site that balloon into a full blown business. If the site never made any money, I would still be updating it today. Do it because you love it and money will follow.
well everybody starts with what he loves, but at some point you need to move further and here comes the time when you start doing for money..
speakerwire, good point. There is nothing else on the earth that I would prefer to building sites, feeding them and watching them grow. I was doing it since I was 11 years old. In the beginning I built sites about my interests, too, like Moto. Now I think I kind of reached the point that I can find an interest for any topic. In the beginning it's always hard, especially if you have almost no idea about what you (will) have to talk about. But that's actually how I've built my most successful site, and now I know a lot about its topic
If you want to be your own boss, make sure that you plan well before quitting your day job. In other words, you must learn and earn as much as you can before doing so. And start with something that you *love* doing and choose a VERY specific niche... Good luck with your journey to becoming your own boss...
I left my day job last year, but I made sure I was making atleast 75% of my day job income in side buisness. The only thing I miss aobut the day job is meeting new people and getting out of the house. I now work at home and do everything over the phone and web, so I'm in a sense a hermit. Good Luck
So I guess that the biggest population group that will survive the "Human" Bird Flu (if it comes) are going to be the webmasters
I have left my job and am making, 10x the money I was with them...so i'm cool now. The only thing I regret is not starting earlier, or actually, not finding out how to make money. Damn, wasted 2 years for free. Oh well.
Starting young. Oh man, you have no idea how many young guns I deal with who make $10K+ per month. It's sick. I never made that much when I was young.
I left my job to travel the world and ending up teaching guys (while traveling) how to get girls. I'm like the anti-Peter Parker, I get laid AND I get paid. On the side, I have a brick & mortar business that is almost completely hands off and only requires maybe 3 hours a day (unless it's like today and then it took all my time). Essentially, I realized that I was NOT cut out to be a mindless, cubicle inhabiting, worker drone zombie. Adsense, currently, is nice beer money for me when I go out to the bars to pick up chicks.
Go ahead and do the work, because then you get the grade. If you think it's too easy, be THANKFUL that it's too easy. Getting an education is never a waste of time.
some impressive stories here... and i definitely look forward to when my businesses achieve some of the levels people have written up... i think that whatever you end up doing, it's just a matter of sticking with it. i find it is so easy to get distracted by the latest and greatest, while if i persist with almost any endeavour then i can find success.
I work for myself but not with adsense, though that would be fantastic. I've loved reading this thread, it's rather inspirational
