Hello DP members, I heard that for corporate websites, others always prefer Drupal and according to them Wordpress is just for simple blogs. Moreover, they made it clear that Drupal is more flexible and easier for developers to customize. What do you think guys? How many of you here in DP prefer to use Drupal? Let me hear what’s in your mind regarding this. Thanks!
Networxnz it really depends on the tech person who will support your corporate site. both wordpress and drupal have nearly same set of features that you can use. Once you need some customization you will find more wp experts and less drupal specialists. design issue can also be a consideration. WP Free Themes can be easily found and drupal themes are not that popular.
Joomla is more complicated than drupal .. also i think wordpress is pretty good and if u say its not got some function then they surely have a plugin that does it
Admittedly, I've only used Drupal a few times (clients request, not by choice), and it wasn't a good experience for me. I just find WP way more intuitive to work with. The community seems friendlier, the codex is clear, and overall, it seems more 'fun' to tweak and hack. WP just 'clicks' with me.
Hello Kerosene, thanks for granting my request through answering that question. I have fully understood your point.
...You heard it from? and what's source? Drupal is not user friendly and that is the reason why they lack users. I have had Joomla on several sites, one for at least a year. More user friendly than Drupal. Drupal lacks a lot of things that Joomla and Wordpress have such as user base and support. Have you even seen the amount of support for those two, Drupal is nowhere to be found. WordPress can be use for a simple and complex, just take People magazine, that Wordpress powered sites and much more corporate and well known blogs that generate millions of visitors monthly. Surely you know very little of the two you accuse of lacking the flexibility and customization that you claim. Get to know the two and here are the URL: http://wordpress.org and http://joomla.com One of the reason why Drupal is heard of because it is included in the cPanel where people got to notice it and maybe had tried it, like me they probably tried and deleted faster than it could be installed.
Here, here!! (*raises hand*) I love Drupal, Joomla and Wordpress. Use them for different types of clients and in different types of projects.
I have used both Drupal and wordpress. Drupal is more flexible, its not complex, you just need to spend some time playing around with it. I feel that wordpress is just for blogs but drupal is a more powerful tool.
So, I guess it depends on what type of projects that these 3 really suit to use. The decision is completely up to us.
Wordpress is great, it has a massive community behind it but it was developed specifically for blogs ( Although it can be modified to do nearly anything ). Drupal/Joomla is a lot more flexible then others but i find it overwhelmed with crap that i will never use. Personally i like SilverStripe, it's not as powerful as the above but it gives me more freedom to program modules how i want them.
Drupal is far more flexible than wordpress. Unfortunately it can be a bit overwhelming when first trying to theme for it. However, most people who are willing to read some instructions and ask questions quickly find that it is the optimal choice. Also, I've attended a handful of Drupal community events and found them to be very open, friendly and helpful. I also think that Drupal tends to attract some of the more serious developers which is a benefit for the less proficient coders because of the vast amount of modules that become available.
