Offline marketing is often overlooked by most of the people for some reasons. I have tried it a couple of times and for me sometimes it works and sometimes completely fails. I guess it depends on niche. What are your experiences with Offline marketing.
How do you define offline marketing - adverts in papers/print, direct mail or ambient marketing - posters etc. I think direct mail still has value but less and less. A friend of mine, actual wrote as in hand writing, personal letters to 200 potential customers, he got a 20% response rate, but typical response to direct mail is less than 0.2%.
I am only using online marketing, no offline marketing. Because, For online marketing one computer, and net connection is enough. Other than this, nothing I am spending for online marketing. I think Offline marketing is more expensive.
I still get direct mailing adverts from the US and UK. But they don't arrive like they used to. I'd say direct mail has it's own value when targeted properly because the personal touch is still there and it means something for the contact. Offline marketing is okay except that it's kind of cumbersome than when done online which saves a lot of time and money expecially when marketing digital products.
Offline marketing will never ever be old. How can someone effectively get some of the services they need if there were no offline service companies? You can look for a plumber online, but you need one to be physically close by in order to make use of his services so therefore local intent is very relevant. Start thinking about what you need locally and can only be performed and executed locally and you will find tons of niches that need your help.
Haven't touched upon offline marketing YET.. But I will very soon as I believe that's one of the best ways to keep up in this game haha
the 2 can live together, who said that I wont need offline marketing for online success, for example a word of mouth marketing of close friends can put this online and roll it over to bring more sales, on the other hand, offline business will need online presence in its local area to drive more clients to it, if it wants to grow.
You can ask every designer in the world, and it is also true at Cross-Commerce Company, e-commerce strategy consulting firm, the clients always want to have a dreamful design for their website. They don’t mind whether the coding is clean or not, but the design is very important for them. It is often what takes the most time in the project. But is that so important
Offline marketing is great if it can be applied with online techniques, some have gotten some good results combining the two
Offline marketing will never go out as a media style. It is more engaging and focused on one client at a time. Online marketing is focused on several clients thereby increasing your chances of landing a business deal or a sale.
I use both online and offline marketing. For example I send a monthly print newsletter to past customers. But I also send bi-weekly email newsletter. I have used post cards to drive prospects to a web page or online video. Both work very well together! I say just go for it. Nothing will impress your customers more when you take the time and effort to contact trhem offline. Why? It is just a more personal touch or at least that is the perception!
We've tried various offline media, though its different strokes for different folks. If you're targeting a small businesses vs. consumers, your media mix will change and even then, you can laser down into segments, especially with things like print etc. Direct Mail can work effectively, though not if you're not targeting correctly
Offline marketing can be a very effective method of marketing, although it often requires more investment than online options. I don't use it much for web hosting (the conversion rates are low, as you might expect), but I've seen it work wonders in other niches... if your website is for restaurants, gyms, or local attractions, for example.
Since I do affiliate marketing mainly, I've never really done offline marketing for that. However, for my e-commerce sites, I've done some text marketing and it seemed to work well. Anything that can be spread via word-of-mouth works out very well too.
@annaharryson - If by more difficult you mean that you have to actually go out and talk to people then yes, however, it can also be much more rewarding in the short term. If you have a systematic approach and are charging people decent money to drive traffic to their businesses you, yourself can earn a very comfortable living.
