And before you learned how to create a Joomla template had you created a template for anything else before? After finding a couple of links from another thread and currently reading about creating a joomla template and being completely brand new to Joomla i think im going to try my best to learn properly how to create one, ive not used joomla yet so really forcing myself to learn a lot from the start but i believe il be a long term user of joomla so why not start learning about the templates from the beginning. How did you get on learning the process of joomla templates? will be happy to read of your experiences, good or bad etc.
I started out playing around with html colour codes first, changing the colour of standard templates. Then I used to download free ones and play around with the graphics, ie changing the banner, changing the button design and in time it becomes second nature, and you can lump what you have learnt together and create your own templates.
My first joomla site use a free template, than I learn Barrie North from compassdesigns.net template tutorials and collapse module tutorial from youjoomla.com. After learning those template tutorials, I try to make my own joomla template.
Since seeing you post that compassdesigns.net link the other day, at least i think it was you ive been reading the template tutorial, it looks like a very handy site, il also check out youjoomla.com
Hi.. Is Joomla easy enough to use for a non techy? Is it possible to set up a membership site easily enough using it? It looks like it is very very popular... Love to know more about it... and how to modify it.... where are those tutorials you mention? M
Thanks... fantastic... I'll see if I can get my head around it... ... and produce something amazing m
I started with Wordpress templates (I already knew HTML, CSS and a very small amount of PHP), and found them easy enough. I then went to PHProxy, Joomla and Drupal. Now I don't even bother with that - I have my own custom CMS core, with a few alterations it can be changed to suit my needs for any site - I have a flexibility no other CMS can offer, and I am proud of it.
I recommend that you visit the site www.joomla.de, many templates for use at the same time provides information as to build one for you.
Hi again... Just wondering if anyone has heard (or used) the 'memberfire' software? Apparently it's a simple software for setting up membership sites... Am looking into it (and Joomla) too... Martin
Hello, You can read a review of Memberfire at this address: http://www.squidoo.com/memberfire Hope this helps.
I have just got Memberfire... thought I'd try it out.. installed OK... need to find products now... but very easy to do... you need a basic knowledge of FTP and all that for installation... so far, simple enough for me to understand... http://photomarketeers.com/mfire.html I think he is having a pre-launch until release Feb 28th? It's very low priced. M
