I am running 7 on my desktop and I've had great success with it so far. IE is and will always be buggy... as far as I'm concerned. But it would be nice to see Microsoft step up and have a nice new version of IE to be released with 7.

Windows 7 is a commercial product and will not be free under any circumstances unless of course you pirate the product, which as we all know is "illegal"...erhmm for most anyway hehe.

From this point forward, Windows 7 does look good and many have high hopes for it, just as I do. I'm looking forward to the official release.

I was using Windows 7 (Until I found out Dreamweaver 8 didn't work). It was really fast. I also loved the new task bar.

Most problems I had was the 'bootstrapper' would fail on certain installations that used Windows Installer. Otherwise it was really nice :)

I installed Win 7 on a new partition with Vista on my main one. I wanna stick with win 7 so is it just a case of deleting the old partition or does win 7 still use files from that side of the hd?

My name is Jeff and I work with the Windows Outreach Team. I am glad to see so many of you have positive feedback about the Windows 7 Beta. Testers- be sure to utilize the Send Feedback link to let Microsoft know what you like and what needs to be changed before the final version is released.
A few of you have mentioned IE8 so I will comment on that as well. For Win7 Beta testers, sorry some of you have run into bugs with IE8. Microsoft has just released IE8 RC1, however it is not compatible with Windows 7 Beta (don’t ask me why ). Once the final version of Windows 7 and IE8 are released, they will however be compatible. If you want to try IE8 RC1 on a non Windows 7 computer, here is a link to download it: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/beta/worldwide-sites.aspx?ocid=ie8_sm_a
@NETGURU- If you dual booted, Win7 does not look at files on your other partition. However, do not delete Vista unless you have all your files backed up and have the disc to reinstall Vista handy once the Beta expires on Aug. 1. My recommendation is to just lave both partitions as they are, then delete your Win7 Beta partition and go back to Vista once the Beta trial period ends or you decide to stop using it.
Sorry for the winded response. I hope it was helpful.
    Cheers!
    Jeff

I do not know for sure when Windows 7 will be made available. It totally depends on what type of feedback Microsoft gets from the beta testers. Better feedback, then quicker release, and vise-versa. The best way to be notified of any big news releases from Microsoft regarding Windows 7 is to subscribe to the Windows Team Blog. Here is a link to that: http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/MainFeed.aspx .
The purpose of the Windows Outreach Team is to answer questions people have about Windows products. We try to answer as many questions as we can find on a wide range of forums, blogs, and other places where user generated content is prevalent. If you ever see one of us involved in a thread, feel free to ask us questions and we will do our best to either answer them or point you in the right direction.
    Best,
    Jeff

    Don't get your hopes up.

The Win7 BETA still has bugs in it, and is NOT a 100% guarantee of a final release. Microsoft has shown in the past that things can actually go downhill from their Betas. with features being cut that were in the Beta.
