I'd love to hear if any yall are running YPN ads on your communities and if the targetting is good or not... I was thinking about implementing them on my forum archive and see what the outcome is and such, but I haven't used my YPN account in months because I've been so busy, haven't thought to montize my sites with YPN...

If you have more than just the forum, you should think twice about implementing YPN on it. With the new system you get paid less per click if they see fit.

I am running a community that use to have YPN ads on it, once they announced the changes I took a HUGE hit in earnings. Once I took down the ads from the community, it went back to normal.

You should look into some other kind of advertising than CPC. Go for impressions or try out some affiliates or text link ads.

So, it's not worth it? What if your forum community doesn't do enough impressions in a day to find an impressions network? But just running the ads on the forums wouldn't do any good?

How bad did your earnings drop?

    So Poem,
The way I read you, if you were to look at my site, Corpsman.com, the main site that is pretty much static other then the updats I run on there, I should run YPN.

My Forums for the site switch to Adsense? I am running both now just testing adsense again.

I have Kontera and to be honest so far I have not been impressed.

    Thanks
    DFC

Da-Chief, I would think that YPN would fair pretty well with that website. This of course is just a guess, since I have never ventured towards that genre.

ForgottenCreature, if you have no other choice, by all means keep YPN on your pages or try AdSense. Just in my experience, along with others that I have read, if you have more than just a community on a website (that receives somewhat good traffic to where you receive several clicks per day throughout the site) it is better to just not run YPN or AdSense.

My earnings dropped by about 1/2 after the change. Then once I took the ads off, it went back to normal.

Some forums might be a bit different however. Do you have any idea what type of conversion percentage your community is likely to get? If it's any good whatsoever, you could always try out AdSense referrals, Amazon or even AuctionAds. Of course, if it's just OK, then by all means, YPN will work wonders. If it isn't very good, say less than 1%, then YPN wouldn't do much good.

If you have NO other choice, then who am I to tell you different? Keep it going, maybe you will get lucky.

The truth behind everything I have said though, is that you need to test it for yourself. Try YPN out for a week or so and compare it to AdSense. Then try out some random affiliate networks like the ones I have stated. Then after a month or two you will know exactly what your community is capable of.

I have no idea, but the archive seems to be receiving a lot of traffic as of lately - and I think it's time to strick and see what could or not work.
