I have a question. Out of the top web properties in the U.S. and in the world, How many of them do you think used buying links as a strategy to gain traffic, and PR?

Seriously, Do you think that Yahoo, MSN, You Tube, Word Press, Craig's list, ever purchased links in the beginning when they were just a gleam and a few Venture Capitalists?
Do you think Google purchased links from AOL?

I think they had original ideas and websites that this kind of thing wasn't required.. TV press and word of mouth on the net were the main contributers to their success in my opinion

    Not too many.

I'm not exactly sure when MSN was just a little thing. M-soft was already making a few bucks a day at that point. :)
