How many of the same keywords on a page is too much?

    Hi all,

I have a scenario I would like to discuss. I'll create an example like "hockey cards". On a wordpress themed site, I will have 3 posts with this keyword in all 3 title and also with in my "keywords" section in wordpress admin. I will also have this keyword as a link on my right hand side under "Pages" to correspond with a dedicated hockey cards page. I also have posts categorized under hockey cards to differentiate from the other categories..therefore theres another link on the homepage with that keyword.

I also want to mention, I will have the keyword "cards" mentioned many more times like on the homepage title and 13 other posts on the page for the title and descriptions of those posts.

So in an example like the above...would this look spammy..even though the site is designed very organized and structured?

    Thanks

In my opinion, if the page is legible by humans, and reads naturally, you should be okay. Read it aloud. If you feel that the repetition of your keywords is excessive, cut the number down a bit.

Have you checked your actual keyword density? Even though it is said there is no magic number for what is a good keyword density, you may strive to keep it below a very high percentage.

I use the following tool to aid in my SEO efforts - not an exact science, but has good information.

The search engines are smart enough to realize that for some niches a low keyword density may not be possible. Sometimes there is really only one word to describe something. If you are worried, try looking at what your competitors have done to deal with this issue. I bet a lot of them have high keyword density but still have good rankings.

I think the worst that could happen is that the high keyword density might set off some red flag that results in a manual review.
