How many meta tags for the Homepage

    I am re-jigging my site and was wondering how many meta tags i should be using for the homepage.
    At present i have 7.
    Is this too many, too little?
    The site covers quite a few topics, so i could list a lot more.
    I'm looking at some of my competitors: www.financialcontent.com - and they have a lot of tags.

    Thanks for any advice

    i think 20 is a good max! and no more than 200 charactors. i read this somewhere. but they do say the shorter the better.

    Meta Tags are used to provide metadata about a Web page.

    meta tags and title will be same benefit to your site if you use 6 or 7 good content defining meta tags and word who also related to your domain will be very good option.
