I know this question is a bit vague and how long is a piece of string but... how many subscribers should a list have before you think it becomes profitable? I know people say make sure you get 100 hops a day before you judge how good a niche is at converting, but how many members on your list before you can judge how good they are? Also I hear that each subscriber is effectively worth 50c a month, does this hold any weight at all? Obviously I know these questions cant be fully quantified but just some personal experiences good go a long way, cheers for any repsonses
I dunno, I have 1350 email subs and I made around 300 last month. So based on that, if you want to make a steady 5000 a month, you'd need 22,500 subs.
Cheers for your experience ParthS, is that 300 from last month consistent or was last month just a one off? FYI your making 22c a month per subscriber from them numbers
Well, I'm looking at the past 90 days, and I made around 900, so I think right now I'm consistent overall. The good thing about an email list is that you have a greater chance of repeat buyers. I've had one guy buy almost every single product I've promoted - he's purchased 6 products from me in the past 3 months. Those are the kinds of people you want to find. (Still don't know how to do that exactly). So, in reality it's all about quality of the list, not quantity. I've been doing a lot of things to improve quality. I use primarily PPC to build up my list. And with PPC youc an control demographics on the content network. So there are certain countries I avoid (Like India). Indians will join my mailing list quickly because my site is shahtraining.com, so my last name is shah (I'm Indian). But my ppc campaign only shows up in the US and certain European countries where I've seen consistent sales. Don't waste your money grabbing useless emails. Most the indians usually unsubscribe within a few days. Just a trend I've noticed with my particular site. I've only had one indian guy buy something from me - but this is probably something you'd notice with all third world/developing countries.
