Hello i am new to link building so i was just wondering how many back links do you need to see some traffic to a site. I have 13 back links. now i know i will need more than that to see a a nice flow of traffic but most of my links have been up for almost a month and i have not seen one visitor. I would say that eight of those links are relivent links and the other are listed in directories which I know not to expect to much if any traffic from those. My site design is not the best and if i was getting lots of traffic but not many repeat visitors then i know i need to change my site design but i can not even get anyone to the site. So i have rambled on long enough any advice would be helpful. Thank You gbdpro
Hi gbdpro, you need to decide your keywords first related to your site theme. It will be a good idea to decide the keywords you want to optimize for (and they should be popularly searched terms). You should get links with these keywords as your anchor text to be able to improve your rankings on search engines and get some traffic.
Thanks for the reply i have choosen my keywords and i use them as anchor text in all my links but they are highly competive.
To get returning visitors it depends on the theme of your site and how you present it, its like the same reason you'd eat at the same restuarant...
The problem is i am not getting any visitors. For example if a site that is getting 1000 visitors a day places a link to my site on their home page you would think that one of those visitors would click on my link but they are not. maybe i am just not waiting long enough.
Is the linking site related to yours? and are they promoting your link at a prominent place on their website/webpage? Plus, is the banner or text link which they are using to link to your interesting enough to get the user attention? Also, you should be very careful with getting links from other sites. Some sites participate in traffic exchange programs and claim that we get 1000 visitors every day, whereas in such a case almost all the users coming to their sites are not interested in their website and are not targetted at all. So even if you have a good link placed prominently on their site, it might not be helping.
Are you not getting any traffic from search engines? Link building is as much about improving your search result rankings as it about getting referral traffic. If your keywords are very competitive, then you've challenge on you hands. You'll need to get a lot more than 13 backlinks - aim towards the 1000 mark. Services like Link Vault can help you automate the process... Cryo.
My site is in the computer field topics are basic understanding, upgrading and troubleshooting. so i try to link to sites that deal with computer hardware, software and accessories. My link is just a standard text link which is placed on their home page at the top or the right hand side of the page. Most sites I have linked to say they are getting anywhere from 150 to 750 uniques a day. I will just have to keep building my inbound links and in time i should start seeing some visitors.
