How many links should i put in an article in an article directory?

Let's say I have a site about cats, and it contains basically everything.

If I then write an article that I post in an article directory how many links should I put in it.

Of course I would put a link relevant to the article, so if the article was about cats' colours I would definetely put www.cats.com/colours.html

but would it also benefit me to put my standard link - www.cats.com
and perhaps to another section like species of cats, if I had an article about that on my site.

What I'm basically trying to illustrate is how many links is it wise to put into a backlinking article?

ezinearticles directory permits only two links to the same site and other directories permit three back links but it may be better to put only two back links to a web site

I'd suggest just two links in my article resource box also even if the directory you submit to allowed more.

To me any more than two wold make the sig look too cluttered and not attractive.

Not all article sites require the same number of links. But the maximum links in the articles allowed is 3. To make it sure just place 2 links because there are some article directories allowed only 2 links. You better check for that before posting.

Basically, an article directory allows at least 1 link on its article, provided it was align with their TOS. Some other allows up to 2 links.

It really depends on the Terms of Service from article directory to article directory. They'll let you know how many you're allowed to have. The PR back to your sites will be better concentrated if only dispersed over 1 or 2 links. Quality over quantity. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

It depends on the TOS of article directories so you should read it first before submitting an article to an article directory so that you are familiar on how many links are allowed to use.

Since you're asking how many links you 'should' put so I will not get into the details of how many links article directories allow.

The answer to your question is 2. Two links in an article would do it for you.

don't stuff your article with massive links as it will look like spam and won't give you enough juice. so, I would suggest to bind your article with maximum 2 keywords.
