Well I don't really rely on my website's PR. I just focused on ranking them on SERPs and not having high PR.

Nice question. People warn you not to post many links. But google does not crawl all the sites that you have used for backlinking. If you have purchased backlinking, most of those sites are of pr0 and google doesn give a glance to them. Worry not! Numbers never mattered.

Actually it is really depends on the keyword. If you have high competition keyword, than you have to build a lot of backlinks. If you have the low keyword, maybe no link building is needed. The most important thing is to create unique contents and update the website regularly. And build natural backlinks from high PR sites.

For a brand new site you can start off with 5 links a day then gradually increase it to between 10-20 a day for the next 12 weeks. Once you see your site is ranking you can try increase its links.
But from my personal experience I usually use link wheels as it helps brand new site rank quite well. Some might have a different opinions or experience but this strategy works well for me.

Quality back links increase your website page rank and traffic very quickly. it will also decrease your site alexa rank. so work properly and correctly.

There's no recommended number of backlinks you need to have in a month in order to rank or improve your rank. This is a goal you set for yourself. You can do 5 in a day, and in 20 days, you'll have a 100 backlinks. Note that search engines don't really index all those nor do they count all those so they'll probably credit your site with only the backlinks thay're able to index. The only recommendation as far as backlinking goes is to do it on a regular basis, continuously.
