How many links on the side?

Discussion in 'Directories' started by formula, Apr 19, 2007.

    Hi all,

I have this web directory and I am selling there links one the sidebar for $15 a month. This prove to be very popular and a nice income for me.

I set it to 10 links on the side, but there is a huge demand for it. What should I do? I know that if I will add more links I am risking by losing PR. Is it right?

or should I just raise the price?

    Thank!

Yep, if you increase the number of outgoing links then your website PR may drop so it's better to raise the price instead of number of links.

Increase the price until you have a balance. What PR is your site?

Your domain is a dropped and reregged name.

You have 116 backlinks in gaygle and 3,425 backlinks in yahoo, and you are trying to add *more* sitewides.

Lets be honest here in what your long term goals are:
    [] to QBC
[] to build an established directory ?

X marks the spot. what exactly is it.

    I agree.
Raise the price. However, I wouldn't recommend any serious directory owner to offer many sitewide links, because this decreases the value of the links.
I am reluctant to submit to paid directories with many sitewide links. Never go over 10.

And I agree with Anon. You will probably lose PR6 on the next update, based on the backinks. Even if you remove all sitewide links.

how do you know how many backlinks I have? by doing search on Google?
get real - you know it doesn't tell you the real story. You want to know the real backlinks? you need to go to google sitemap - only there you can get an accurate info. And to be honest over there the picture is completely different. I have more then 6200 links from very strong websites. Some of them were before and some of them I added. So I don't think it will lose PR, in fact I think it will gain pr.

My target is to build an established directory.

I can tell you more about your site then you know

Thier is a magnitude of ways of doing things with different Quality
    tools threwout the web.

Ps dont only use "www.widexl.coms" tool for reletive stats
as thier are many many more out thier and unless your using several tools
at once for better refrence and acuracy in web stats. ;)

Google webmasters is a joke still after all these years with $$
to spend cant get educated webmasters to build an interface
worth anything to tell you your stats concerning your website.

    thx

Although I know --no online tool is 100% accurate --the tool I use give me fairly good idea and although sometimes it misses some links --I strictly follow it for its indications are as close as you get.

    You have --

PR6 - 2 ( including your domain, so technically you have only one ILQ-http://www.espasa.com/nuevaweb/frames.htm I have not found your site on it)
    PR5 -1 ( directory critic)
    PR4 - 1. (index-it.net)
    4xPR3 ---

By all indiacations you get only --PR4 -- and if lucky you might get a weak --PR5.

So I think DP is not the best pace to fool around. with expired high PR domains. Sorry for my strong words --but I am only stating facts.

EDIT: The directory is down--seems to have vanished

yes I know site is down. Problem with hosting.
And yes Anon you are right this things are not working because I've just moved the site hosting and as you can see there are some problems :(

And I am willing to bet that this site will not drop to PR4. Anyone up for the challenge?

Mate nobody -- even not its creator --Larry Page --can predict PR. And you want to bet?

Well let me know your bet. I am there --but let me tell you --the more you want to drag this --the worse you get in.
As if you loose the bet-- nobody will take you or your directories seriously in the future.
