I just wondering is there a chart anywhere that i could find that says 5000 links for pr 5. a million for pr 10. I know i pr determines how many links and what the pr of those links. I seen links where they 23000 links but page rank 2 then i have seen other with 1000 links and page rank 5
You can't say like that. If you manage to get at least three PR-8 link, you'll be awarded PR-5 and more. But it is difficult to get the link. The link should be one-way and also related link. I think you got it...
it is hard to tell. I have 20000 links to my website but only pr3 and my DP profile only has few links and have pr5
Go see the original PageRank formula at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PageRank. While Google has doubtlessly modified the exact formula over the years since Brin and Page were at Stanford, there's good evidence that the foundation in the way PageRank works remains intact. The fundamental principle to understand is that the amount of PageRank passed by any given link is approximately equal to the PageRank score of the page on which the link resides divided by the number of links on that page. The PageRank score of any given page is based on the sum of the PageRank value received by those incoming links, but this is the internal PageRank score that is not available outside of Google. That internal score is ranked against a sliding scale for display in the Toolbar. Further complicating the issue is the fact that (a) the Toolbar PageRank scale is logarithmic, and (b) Google has been recalibrating the Toolbar PageRank scale frequently for the past two or three years now due to the continuous growth in the size of the Web. The upshot of all this is that you can't say any specific number of links from a page with a particular PageRank score will result in the target page achieving a particular PageRank score without knowing how many links are on the pages on which these incoming links reside.
PR is not that influencing on your Site rankings over google. You better focus on better content more than site PR.
I know that backlinks are important but you can get high pagerank without backlinks too. Look at my article directory LotText. I have PR5 but not too many backlinks. I just have many authors and they love to write. I have right now more than 4000 internal pages. It helps me to have high pagerank. I am just saying that internal links are very important. Check this out Page rank 4 with.... you guessed it zero links!!! http://valleyhomechoice.com/ no games no links that were just removed the site has been at 4 for over a year.
Check out http://www.compar.com/infopool/articles/PR-calculation.html That article is almost 4 years old and the formula as well as the parameters are estimated though.
I just seen one website has the number 1 spot and no page rank. It has a little over thousand links. it is link to menhealth the popular magazine and few others that have somewhere around a 4 pr. The guy who came in number 2 has pr of 3 and has 800 links
thrusites.com/tools/pagerank-calculator/index.php. I found this tool. since i am newbie i cannot make this link live.
It's not about link quantity any more, but links quality: My PR3 site (was PR5 2 months ago!) today went down to PR0. That's a site with more than 120000 links. Another site of mine has got just a few links and it's PR5, still.
I've always thought that you do have to have something in the way of backlinks to get any kind of page rank. Actually, you do have a couple of inbound links showing on Yahoo Site Explorer (one a pr4), and who knows what Google sees?
i dont trust those types of the charts. if you have backlinks from high pr and low outgoing links web sites, the backlinks that you need will decrease
I think it depends on: quality of backlinks, number of backlinks, number of outlinks from your website (the basic algorithm that it's used to compute the PR is public). It's possible that PR has now more a marketing role than a major role in ranking Google search results.
It's quite amazing seeing the number of different responses to a pretty simple question...! The question of how PR affects SERPS is a separate issue, and not related to the actual question (PR can help improve SERPS but is only one of many factors). The key point is that the PR of a page is determined by the number of links AND by the PR of the sites from which those links come. These are the only factors. So there's no simple answer of "it will take x links to get PR5" - it depends on the PR of the pages from which those links come from (if the links are from high PR sites you won't need as many).
