How many links do you initially purchase for each site?

Was wondering what everyone spends on links and how many new links do you buy at the launch of a new site or within the first 3-6 months?

Well it depends a lot on the site in question. A small regional site won't need as many links as a site in a more competitive industry. For most of my small to medium sized clients I usually start with about 500 directory submissions and then a few weeks later a round of article submissions (usually 400 using 5-10 different articles)

Results are also highly dependent. You don't know what you're getting into until you pull your keyword research, even then its still not exact. Regional and Niche businesses are easy as pie. Clients in a more competitive industry get results based on the their willingness to be aggressive with link building in addition to regular on page SEO (so basically more $ better results)

But I haven't had a client yet that has not been satisfied or seen a large jump in traffic. Still, I won't take SEO jobs that I don't think I can get top results for.

For a newly lauched site you should try to get as many backlinks as you can, but these should be from relevent high PR site. If possible try to get them for limited period (just for month or two.) also concentrate on building them using SEO, directory submission, forum-blog posting and all.
Also concentrate on having unique and fresh content for your site.
IMO “ Content is the King and links are the Queens.”

If you want to see your site pr6 ....

    Then

    Buy 10 Pr6 Links (Maximum 10 outbounds)
    Buy 1 or 2 pr7 links (Maximum 10 outbounds)
Buy at least 50 Pr5 Links (Maximum 10 outbounds)

Now this is more of a marker of reality we do the same buy all the time, we have a ROI to evaluate we are running a business and it needs to be a business with continuous revenue streams

That means continuity with many areas and processes include new content of course

ive added my site personally to about 30 or so directories, and a few niche directories. I just paid someone $10 to add me to 600 directories. I have link exchanged with about 15 or so like minded websites (video games, in particular Mario).

I have posted in a few forums, added my site to my forum links etc. Content is being added daily and as far as I can tell I have the most amount of Mario Media out there on the one site, and i'm still adding more daily.

Is there anything else I can do to increase PR? I only started this site about a month ago and my pr is still 0.

Tell me who you got to add you to 600 directories for $10, and I'll send you $10 right now. That's a pretty damn good price. Did they manually submit them? Because automated submission is pretty useless.

    :D

Those sites will not have good link profile.

Do you submit to 500 free directories or what?

I have bought about 3 links total. I am afraid of gettig ripped off when said person sells their site and starts selling links with their new link farm domain.
