My webiste is in mmorpg niche, and since it is a strong site, I get link exchange emails daily. All are relevant, 1-2 Pagerank level lesser than mine.

Question is how many link exchange partners is enough or best for the site ? 3 ? 5 ? 10? 25 ? infinite ?

It should not exceed more than 30 on a single page.
Other wise it seems to be Link farm...

Exchanging links is good but you should focus on building one way links.

i use no more then 10 exchanges, and its important you only exchange links with sites that WILL generate traffic to yours. example relevant sites, and sites with a high amount of traffic

Non of link partner is good! if you really want to build penalty free links only "one way links" will work for you.
Sooner or later you will get penalized by google.
Try to build three way links this will help you a lot.

The internet was build on sharing links, link exchanges, and pointing people to relevant sites to one's own. These things, when done correctly, are gold in the eyes of google.... much more so then the slightly deceptive three way linking schemes.

Exchanging many links is not exactly a good idea. Focus on getting one way links.
Exchanging links with lets say 20 sites even if they're related is not something Google would like.

If you are a webmaster and blog about it, never, ever (and I mean NEVER) discuss digital point if you plan on posting at digital point about any of your pages... lest you get the wrath of google!

If you have a friend and point to his site, then pray to all that is holy, he never points back to yours!

If you have a directory, then pray that NO ONE EVER refers any members your way!

Related two way links are a good thing, no if ands or buts about it. If I am wrong, then no one would link to anyplace, ever... because they would run the risk of an accidental link back.

Related link exchanges are A-Okay if done in moderation, in good taste, and a certain amount of tact is used.
