Just wondering what you guys think about keyword targeting and SEO. how many keywords/keyword phrases are good to focus on generally? if too many keywords may affect rankings? thanks
Well you should use a variety of keywords around 3 or so different versions for your home page and then concentrate on optimized keywords in your inside pages.
Wrong. The more unique keywords you have with low competition and huge monthly search volume, there is a great possibility that you will receive more clicks (or even revenues) if you optimize it the right way by getting a lot of low competitive keywords in your site to be on the Google's 1st page.
Ranking for many keywords can be hard. Depends how much effort you want to put in your site. But with one-page wonders I usually go for 1-2 keyphrases
I agree with Dannbkk. I would optimise main page for max 3 keywords and than would optimise inside pages for different keywords. Lets say you have website about womenclothes . com. I would create inside pages such as: "formal clothes", "summer clothes", "winter clothes" ect....and each page will be optimised for 3 keywords or so. Than you can promote these inside pages separately too. If you have many keywords it would be extremely difficult .... I believe that you can not successfully optimise one page for too many keywords. One more advice ....do you keywords research properly...good keywords will save you lots of time and money.
Three keywords are good enough for one site, but it will give us more benefits if we can search as many low competitive keywords for a niche site to rank well on the search engines. Sky is the limit!
If it is long tail keyword you can target many in a page itself. However, the effectiveness lies in putting 3 or 4 keyword high priority keywords in the page and in the relevant parts of the page (title tags, headings etc..). It should be of 2 words length.
Absolutely ipexpert. Long-tailed keywords may give you better chances to rank and optimize your site well in the search engines, only if you are good in research and analyzing keywords. Short-tailed keywords are very tough to research and analyze, but if you hit the good ol' jackpot for low competitive short-tailed you are lucky enough to work for that keyword to rank well in the search engines within your title and meta tags, headlines and content.
It depend upon the situation. But mostly recommend 7-10 keywords. If some one have better suggestion then share with us.
For example right now im targeting like 4 main keywords for my home page 1. Make Money Online 2. SEO Professional 3. Internet Marketer 4. Affiliate Marketer For me this is plenty, so it all depends on your target audience, but then for the inside pages the sky is your limit.
There is no limit to select keywords for your website, you can optimize your website on unlimited keywords. If you do this it is good for your own website.
yes, this is true that there is no set limit to select keywords to optimize the site but this thing generate spamming after when you promote too much keywords in page content and when you create links for that page. It is advisable that promote max 3-4 keywords with the off page activities and use some low competitive keywords with high huge monthly search volume good for website with the help of good on-page keywords. Google gives automatically preferences to you for other keywords also. All the best
I have always heard and form what i seen in website info things are 20 max keywords for each page. I have been working on my companies site and we have placed 20 with keywords from each service on index and other non service related pages and for the service pages we put specific keywords, 20 max. Is it true all a search engine will pick up is the first 20?
Madhav I want to correct you here that if you are optimizing your website on only one anchor text with home page link on it its no good, the best part is that you pick up one-one keyword from every page and create link on them equally, this is called the best way of doing this.
google checks your site it checks the density of keywords if there is more use of some word then google count that as keyword.it checks how much percentage of keywords are present on your page with respect to the content on your page
