Hi there have you considered / or maybe you know? how many keywords is it best to use to optimise an anchor. Would it better to go with three words like cheap toys london or toys or cheap toys in london the best price in UK What do you think, share your thoughts. I always go option 1.
I think optimizing for "cheap toys london" is better. But if you have more words in your anchor they loose their weight. And it´s better to use more keywords phrases in anchor not only still "cheap toys london"...
It depends on the competition of your anchor text. Search Google on your keywords and from the 1st page results, see how many links they've got. You need to be near or beat them to be placed on 1st page. So a one-word or a long-tailed keywords are fine. Just need to beat the competition.
Has per my knowledge u go for 2 or 3 keyword phrases. Search Google on what keyword phrases you going to target and check how many competition is their and decide what keyword you going target.
I was told by my seo coach that the anchor text should be minimal keywords and the title text should be a description of the anchor without using the same keywords. Matching keywords or keyword only titles are considered spammy by google, apparently.
I agree with the competition remark. Its a fine balance between how competitive the keyword is and the number of searches the keyword has. If you choose a keyword with a high number of searches, likelihood is its very competitive. You have to find the combination that yields some search volume but low competition. For search volume you can use the google keyword tool (serach for the phrase in google) or a tool like wordtracker.com.
Anchor text should only consist of your target keywords,. not unless you are after on longtail kws then you can put set of keywords,.
Anchor text should be the keywords you're trying to rank for in the search engines. You need to pick something that's popularly searched but won't be hard to get first page or ranking for. For example, it'd be insanely difficult to rank for a keyword like "money". But "make money from home" would be a bit easier, because you're competing against a lot less.
thanks for all the help there, I am trying longer anchors to see how these fair. I have been using two/three words to date. I was also wondering if two-three character words are ignored or carry weight if they are used to form a question, as some search engines like ASK are question statement based (i think) so may be like where to buy toys could be a good anchor?
