It depends on the number of related keywords that can be found in your niche.

In modern day SEO - targeted at google - what you need is normal text: text that is useful for human beings - these should include whatever humanly reasonable key phrases you can get in there. But the main issue is: does it look forced to a human being? If so: you are over optimizing. That will not help you in google. So stick with what's natural. What I usually do is just make sure I write a good introduction to the site - and then go back to see whether I can get a few more relevant keywords in there without making the text look keyword stuffed.

Also - with SEO the homepage is usually not the most important page. the homepage is for people who actually look for you company. Or for people who like your site and have it bookmarked. It's the internal pages that will get you targeted traffic from search engines. Give them a clear theme and optimize them for search engines (still with PEOPLE in mind). The homepage is really only for people and your brand.

Not more than three else you dilute the page., Ideally, use one keyword for highly targeted traffic.

10 keywords per page is ok. Create your content using your targeted keywords in a creative way of writing so that it won't look like keywords spamming.

i think 4-5 keywords/phrases are ok. You can include a combination of low and high competitive keywords.
