I would keep it around eight keywords. And you might want to find some keywords that don't have so much competition.
it's not about too many but about too broad - better use niche keywords, they cost less to get clicks for and convert better
realy I have no choice because the nature of my site so I can change it or could nayone suggest new keywords to help fit in with the site!
I also read somewhere, can't remember. But the over use of 1 particular word is an overuse. Like anything over 3 times in any form of 1 word. So dont use a word more than 3 times in your meta's.
lpstong is very right. Don't repeat yourself, and lower down the number of the words. Try to be short and precise. This is the best way to get SEOed via keywords.
I believe you should try and focus each page on 1 keyword only, as if you try to include too many you dilute the dominance of all the keywords.
Are you talking in terms of SEO or PPC? For SEO, I would stick with 2 -3 related keyword variations per page. Build new pages for other important keywords ...but don't be spammy. Make a real page with "real" valuable content. Reinforce the chosen keywords on those pages by linking into them using the 2 - 3 chosen variations. For PPC, there is no such thing as to many, although you will want to keep your keywords per ad group to a minimum. Usually not more than a dozen or so. The better you can target the ad copy to the keyword, the better click-through rate you will achieve. The better the CTR, the lower the CPC. I hope that helps.
