How Many $$$ Is My Legit 2,500 Email List In The Weight Loss Niche Worth?

    Hey guys,

I have this email list that I gathered offering a freebie ebook that I want to sell since I don't have the time to mantain it and it's adding to the costs in my Aweber account.

    Other details:

    - the list is actually of 2,497 subs to which I can add other 296 unsubscribed email contacts

    - the vast majority of the subscribers are from USA; started to gather the leads around August 2012 till the end of December 2012

    - one of my VAs that gathered the leads posting comments in laser-targeted places, so I can't say how much that costed me since she had other tasks while doing that. I think it could be interesting to know that the subscribers had to manually write the URL in the browser bar to get to the landing page, this means they were really motivated and interested in the subject

    - after mailing the freebie, I emailed to this list 8 time BUT always promoting the same product (The Diet Solution Program from Clickbank); basically I just sent them the original newsletter of the author of the product, adding my affiliate link (this to say that I also provided value and not spammed my subs); there's for sure a lot of room for selling more products

    - a screenshot of open & clickthrough percentage of the first freebie email and of the following 8 emails follow-ups:

    - With that series of follows up I made well more than 260 $ (I said "well more" because I didn't start to track properly the conversions right of the bat having more sources of traffic to the landing page, and now Clickbank doesn't allow me to see statistics older than 3 months - so basically I can prove "only" 260$)

So, how much do you think this list is worth?

If you can suggest a good place where I can sell it, please do tell me, thanks!

Umm just type in "sell email list" in Google and you'll find plenty of ways to go about it.

Eh, already tried that, but didn't find a proper email lists marketplace, so I was wondering if someone knows any "insider"marketplace.

You can. In Flippa you can see tons of business sites sold accompanied by their respective email lists, just to make an example.

That's a different thing IMO. Selling a site with email list is like selling the business with client base. Shouldn't make difference. But if you are just selling the email list without the consent of subscribers, you are doing an illegal and unethical thing. You promise your subscribers that you will not spam them and by selling the list, how would you be able to control that?

Do it the "right" way by just selling the site. Then that shouldnt be any problem.

If you feel like the website is not worth listing on "flippa" try this forum.

I don`t think it`s ethic or legal to sell e-mail adresses withount consent, that list could be used by spammers. Selling it with the whole site is another business, but just the list i don`t think it holds real value.

I don't see how selling a site AND a mailing list would be legal and selling just an email list would be illegal.

As long as they are legit opt-ins like in this case, I don't see where the problem lies legally speaking.

Of course, I can't control what the next owner will do with the list, but A) it would be stupid from him to waste a legit list with spammy offers ignoring the already estabilished relationship, and B) it's not like the subs can't unsubscribe if the new owner does shady stuff.
