Baptized Melkite (greek catholic), but went to roman catholic sunday school and 99% of mass's i went through were roman catholic. Same beliefs as roman catholics except the Melkite mass is done in greek. My ancestors used to be greek orthodox but converted to catholicism way back, plus our priests can be married if they allready were married before they decided to become priests.
Ive always been in favor of priests being married.

I wasn't aware of the denomination, Ping - any relation to the Catholic Church of the Byzantine Rite? We vacation quite a bit in Copper Harbor, MI - and go by these fellas, to buy up their wonderful breads and other stuffs.

Northpoint, Im not sure if there is a connection between the russian catholics and greek catholics, but now you got me curious:D. I have a huge article project going on but im gonna try to get some reading in between. As far as the melkites, I wish I knew more about the rite, because I basically grew up in the roman catholic faith, as the only melkite church near me here is 1 hour away by car, plus I dont speak greek even though my mom still can pray in greek herself. We do however have a russian catholic church close by. Other than that I had a 6 month stint in catholic school in beirut in 1973, but something told my dad to leave and we were very lucky he listened to his gut because a few years later the 25+ years of civil war started and the plo started forming checkpoints around lebanon and randomly killing shiites and christians.
Alot of lebanese christians fled the country, but the shiites stayed and fought back. I think this was teh original reason hezbolla was formed until they later morphed into a terrorist organization. I tend to ramble on alot dont I lol:D.
    Im such a dork lol

There could be a byzantine connection. Now im really curious and when I get curious I start researching lol
Those goodies really made me hungry now lol
