I saw a couple of posts that offer the services for 100 directory submission. Just curious, How many hours everyone think it'll take to submit to 100 directories?

    I meant good quality submissions

    1) pick good directories
    2) pick proper category
    3) track submissions

SiteTutor, I agree. It may take up to 8 or 10 hours.

It depends also on few other factors.
    1. single title or many different titles and descriptions
    2. the speed of your internet connection
    3. excluding about 5-10% of those that take more time might bring you additional speeed-up

In the past I have been doing submissions while on GPRS mobile internet connection, and I can tell you it took so loooooooooooooong time I can't even believe now that I am on DSL.

I was thinking of at least 10 different titles and descriptions. There's not much we can do about the connection speed. I get a cable modem, which is pretty fast. But the slowness is on server side.

    i use
    http://www.selfpromotion.com
its free if you like to use it for a month only
for a donation - the data are stored and you can use it all year long

its a mixture between individual submission and automated submission
before submitting you complete a bunch of forms and fields with a variety of combination of your data
    once this done
the submission service selects automatically the best combination and size of each field depending on needs of each particular SE

to submit new site-sections you may copy a record and modify the difference in data only - thus substantially saving time
you may also resubmit - if all data same then with a few clicks only

i love the service and use it successfully for some 5+ years now in addition to a few dozen manual submissions to new directories now and then - i just take the time - whatever it takes, hours or half days or full days and nights - provided it helps to substantially increase traffic or reach into new markets or new countries/regions

the time it takes for submission is actually wuiet free of speed of ww connection - most of the time is spent in searching the right directory subfolder and more even to complete all data-fields required - therefor i maintain a large text file with a large combination of entries prepared for all major sections of my site - including keyword fields with different length, description with different length, address, URL titles, etc - hence the manual submission is a copy and paste action. i use that file since several years now

I am no seo guru but the site has PR0, yet having 3740 pages indexed in google. What could that mean? (That's a honest question.) Apart from that, the idea behind the service is good.

If you never done it before it will take a while untill one knows all the standard quirks of various base directory scripting and their slant aboy categories.

To do it manually but have all the various title and descriptions predefined the average should be 4-5 min per directory so you're looking at a 8-10 hour day after which you wish you had learned something different...

All decent directories will have manual verification (if not now than soon) and will check for regerer pages. It is also well worth the efford to spend 1 minute on reflecting the "slant" of the directory and use sumission details accordingly.

I would not use free submission tools.
Our directory for example simply kills all enties from standard referrers which is most of the free ones.
    Cheers

It is very important to take your time and submit to the best categories, it can make a difference in your rankings where you are placed in that directory.

4-5 directory scripts cover 80-90% of all directories. I spend most of my time writing titles/descriptions and find the best categories. The first a few submissions take sometime and is slow. I feel it makes sense and more productive to submit one site to a list of directories one time than submit a few sites to the same directory at once.

I am at my best when submitting about five sites in one go. Less is unefficient, more is a bit harder to concentrate on.
