when you plan a website and do kw researching, how many exact searches are you targeting? 1k, 10k, 100k?
I am finalize keyword which is related to my site theme.I never take care about searches or competition.I just want to put my site on top for my site related keywords.
I think this is not mater how many visitors or coming on specific keyword but important thing is that what keyword is best for your site.
what is the point in optimizing for a keyword that won't get you any visits? keyword research is the backbone of any online business.
Well said crisT. I agree. It seems everyone here is more interested in what they can get free. In-depth keyword research is extremely time consuming with the free keyword tools. It can be done but one will quickly tire of it. The pros use high quality (paid) keyword research tools. I look for keywords with 500 searches per month but sometimes go as low as 150. It all depends on your niche.
It depends on the CPC (I use CPC to "guesstimate" how profitable the search term is) of the term, keyword selection is more of an art than a science so the number of searches is really only a "guesstimate". And you'll only receive a percentage of the amount of searches. See the URL below, scroll down about 1/3 of the way down the page to see the percentages of a 1st page ranking on Google, also notice that only about 10% click through to the 2nd page. http://training.seobook.com/google-ranking-value I start at around 2,000 if the CPC is high enough and figure 5% click through rate. AND once they reach your page depending on your conversion rate the percentages there as well. So yeah 2,000 is probably on the low side unless you're getting a really high CPC if you're doing Adsense. BTW I agree that there's no sense in targeting search terms with no traffic.
Everything is so dependent. When I am looking at creating a micro niche site I aim for a minimum of 2k exact. Conversely if I am creating a site I will be using for a long time and working at exact domains don't worry me. As for KW research for internal pages again it is dependent... mostly at that point on the competition. i will happily do an article on 300 exact a month (not exact, not broad) if there is little to no competition in it, or the competition is very weak. Usually though I will aim for weakish competition around the 1k exact searches mark or above for internal pages or hub pages, EZA pages etc
A lot depends on what keyword you are asking about. If it is the site concept keyword, then I prefer 10k.
It's not about searches, it's about searches in correlation to the amount of exact results, which is what he is asking. For instance: 10,000 searches with 100,000 results is a better ration than 5,000 searches and 75,000 results, although 100k results will be much harder to rank for. The lower the results, the better, but minimal searches will bring minimal traffic.
its what he is asking? missed that in his post then! But why exact results? I find broad results a much more useful indicator of competition
the keyword which has 5000 global and 4000 local searches then it is good buy competition should me less then 20%.
Well said Cris! At same time traffic numbers don't necessarily correlate to conversions and that's what we're really after. My recommendation: Forget about traffic estimation... run a PPC campaign to find the best converting words you can and then KILL IT with organic.
As stated, it depends on which niche are you in; also how good the content on your website is. Better the content - more competitive you are. But my rules are not less than 1000 searches per month, and not more than 50000 results (in quotes), or even 30000 - depends on niche.
