I'm about to cancel a batch myself. You just get smarter as you go along and make better decisions at the time of purchase.

I did waste a few. I fell for the .99 Godaddy .info sale then the following year they wanted me to register at full price.

I entered .com arena a little late due to some unforeseen circumstances.

All I can do now is wait for some good names to drop from people who have misused, mismanaged them..... yep, great names but their too stupid to develop it into anything productive so the domain name is wasted.....

What do we call this again? Cybersquatting?

I have wasted only 1 doman and I build in it a website but the most hard part was getting traffic to it. I had this domain last year and at that time I didn't know all the possibilities to get traffic. Nowadays the situation in my case is much better, I'm building a blog and know how to get traffic =)

well, 60 + here, but i haven't wasted any domain till now, Most of my Domains are good ones and i have sites running on them. at least they are generating nice income with few minutes of update every week. and the major plus is that with age they are becoming established websites, which is superb for future im sure.

    about 20 i've wasted!

i think wasting domains is a part of being a business person in our industry. we are idea people - ideas cost money even if they do not make it into development!

Less than 10, for sure. Realistically it is probably less than 5.

When it comes to choosing a domain I am quite selective and sometimes find myself going through over a hundred (or more) options for a possible domain before I settle on something.

It's a pretty time consuming process but I've been able to find some tools that make it easier. Most of my websites have been aimed at establishing some sort of a brand or identity. What I mean by that is, I don't usually target generic keyword domains.

Actually, over the past year so I've gotten to the point where I won't accept anything unless it is .com for a personal project. That's not to say I wouldn't snatch a generic domain at a great price and try and make some money off it. :p

I wasted more than 80 domain names, and now I have more than 10 domains that I don't use like addthese.com or askeraser.com

I purchased a lot of travel names but never had time to develop them. I'm actually selling them here if interested.

I have 40 domains setting idle in Tucows and Godaddy. I will develop them as soon as 2009 enters into the calendar. Many of them will be moved to Namecheap. I am so impressed with Namecheap's free whois protection and faster server.

I almost always have something on my domains, even the parked domains
Why have them, if you are not going to do anything with them, or at least try to make some money with them
