    I have wasted a ton!

I always find something to do with them.

    I give some away.

    I park some.

Some I just let sit there, cause I am cool like that.

    Only 10? I wish! :D

I've let a lot more than that expire because they had no real value/use. I'm much more selective these days with what I purchase :)

I haven't wasted any domains. I will at least sell it for less than reg fee before it expires if the name sucks, but won't just let it expire worthless :D

Right now in my NameCheap account I have 78 domains. Six are in use, eight are just plain good domains, and the rest are "wasted" domains. Ten or so domains dropped in the past month that were all junk too. So ive wasted 74 domains.

When you type it out it seems like so many and makes me feel like a retard.

Only a few, but are not expiring because my hosting company is renewing those domains automatically for free.

    Dont feel bad!

I have 'wasted' over 100 domains I would guess. As some others have said great plans dont always happen!

I also realised that for me it was impossible to develop and maintain more than 5 or 6 good quality sites with good content and so on.
So I let the junk domains go and have kept 30 or so ones with good value that are between 3 and 9 years old

Just take a look at a list of dropped domains... Sometimes I can't believe how much totally stupid domain names are being registered. People tend to register anything, mostly because domain names are quite cheap. I think, when buying domain names, you should only buy those in which you believe, not everything that's available.

I think I've wasted three this year. Two I have not been able to develop and one I just decided wasn't so good an idea after all. In the future I will have a development plan in place before I purchase any domain. You've wasted ten, which is a shame but it sounds like some people have wasted a lot more so your shouldn't feel too bad. Be glad you only wasted a few and learn from the process. Don't make the same mistake again because that would be a real waste.

What's the definition of "wasted", here?

I buy a lot of domain names which I like (some of them quite "cleverly worded/lettered", to be immodest), with no particular plans of doing anything specific with them other than parking them and sitting on them and maybe one day finding a use for them or re-selling them. It's not like they cost anything to speak of. I probably have 40 - 50 of those. I still own them. They even produce some tiny income from being parked. Are they "wasted" within the meaning of this thread?

If you recover the domain price from sedo parking or whatever then I wouldn't call them wasted. Else it's just a waste.
