I'm just barely getting started in this game, but so far I have:

    1 active
3 redirects to active site (.net, .org, .info versions of my site)
    2 parked
5 new number domains I'm still deciding where to park

18 - but soon to be less... I lost one in a WIPO complaint (the price of success!) plus I'm going to let a few others expire.

Frankly, I'm trying to give up the habit... it's just that late at night, I get some idea that name xxxx.com is just the most brilliant thing, and I buy it before anyone else does (i.e. before I go to bed)

A few days later I remember - then I think - when on earth am I going to find the time....

sometimes I think we should call them dream names not domain names!!

I have a little over 50 with probably 12 or so that I actively manage. Several are unparked, just waiting for me to give them a home. Most of my bulk is from misspellings or .com .net .org variations of my current sites.

Some registrars, like the one I use (RegisterFly), offer bulk-management tools that let you, for instance, apply DNS changes or change contact details of all your domains (whether 400, 600 or 800) at once. Couldn't live without tools like that... and of course, a dedicated server is useful for the hosting end, and will let you setup and run your own DNS server to further simplify domain management ;)

I think I am around 500. Managing them is a hassle. I think I have over 100 active sites. Just counting them and figuring out what I have in inventory takes me hours. I buy and sell domains like crazy. Sometimes I register 50 names...sometimes just 1 or 2 in a week...it really depends. I expect to have 1000 names by new year and hopefully 200 active sites. I am working hard now on 3-5 sites per week. All my sites are pretty much original content. I tend to like forum sites as I set them up fast and custom. I get my pages in google very quick and easy.

The biggest hassle is that when I buy names everyone has them at crappy registrars and I have to either transfer them or create some account I really don't want.

Recently I got ps3talk.com from Sedo...that's gonna be great to develop.

For every 10 sites I build I sell 1..or there abouts. The sold sites provide solid income while the kept sites bring in residual money. One day I hope to keep a solid portfolio that makes me 10k a month without any real effort. 10k a month would be decent income that I could decide to be lazy (yeah right).

I don't find them too much of a chore. I guess I'm easily content in life and enjoy what I do. Plus the rewards are great.

We own about 120 domain names & about 20 active sites.

Most of our sites aren't parked though.

We just got into buying Japanese IDN names & have a good portfolio with just 20 names.
