    How many domains can we host on the server that has the below mentioned configuration?

    Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5335 2.00GHz, Quad Core
    4 GB of RAM
    3 Hard Drives of 250 GB = Total 750 GB
    WHM 11.15.0 cPanel 11.18.3-S21703
    REDHAT Enterprise 5.1 i686 on standard - WHM X v3.1.0

    Any estimates ?

    Thanks,

    You can host between 1-1000 depending on what your plans will be like, are those drives in RAID 5?

    No, it does not have RAID drive controller. It has SATA.

    If the sites are static, you should be able to host over 25,000 Domains - IMHO.

    If the sites are dynamic & database / feature rich, you would probably want to limit the the server to approx 50 or 100 domains. It all depends on the Server load & CPU utilization. You should be able to view the CPU load & setup more domains accordingly.

    Good Luck!

    Umm, those are two different things. SATA does not replace RAID.

    Afazelpoor probably has the best estimate.

    SATA can do RAID 5, Agree with Expron, typical websites don't use much of anything, it depends on your target audience.

    SAS & SATA are two different hard drive controllers. (not to be confused with RAID controllers).

    SAS = Serial Attached SCSI
    SATA = Serial ATA

    I have 120 sites on a P4 3.2HT with 2gb ram. Some of them are pretty big too. One has a 200mb DB. I gotta think your server can handle a LOT more than 50-100 sites. This really does depend on what types of sites these are. I would estimate that you would max out MYSQL with about 1gb-1.5gb worth of databases. Static sites are like a joke...what also matters is your bandwidth.

    Also do you plan on reselling hosting or is this just your own box?

    You couldn't even host a single site with that, if its huge like DP, but you can host millions they all are newly registered without/almost any traffic, and all point to a single html page.
