It seems that directory submission are not as useful as they use to be few years back but I believe that we should still do some directory submissions, may be 20-25 per week, what your guys think?

who know about it. even you submit hundred in a day that doesn't matter. I dont think from that hundred you will get 1% - 5% approved.

Ya you are right directory submission is not so important in these days but you can submit at least 50 directories for your url per month. But nobody can tell how much of them will be approved.

I'm curious. What are you guys promoting that allows for 50 submissions per week? I mean, if you are promoting something real wouldn't it make more sense to get REAL links instead of bullshit spam links Google will end up penalizing?

@Richard_1979 Why would Google penalize you for building these types of links? Are these not classed as real links?

Or are you referring to the low ranked directories? There are still some effective directories out there.

Directory submission is important in quality old directories.
Create 5-10 good backlinks every month with relevant content will increase your ranking.
Why you expect your links will be reviewed direct for free?

Well, I still do 25-30 directory submissions a day. I guess that's quite good and minimal.

There's only a handful I'd worry about, the rest are pretty useless. The Directory tactic is no longer worth while as these site are only created to host thousands of links and provide no real value. Not to mention have no Authority. When's the last time you used a directory to find something online? Never? Your time can be better spent doing other things.

True that. The directories I prefer are mostly active blogging communities.

It is true that directory submissions are not useful today because there are lots of alternative mediums to consider to increase your traffic and reputation.

How many directories per week? Well that depends on how quick you want your site penalized. I prefer 0 directory submissions per week and rank good.

50 is enough for one week and try to submit those directories who not penalized by google so first check then submit.

In my opinion, the search engine knows every move you made. So if you try to submit your website to all the directories in a few days, I can tell you what will happen. Then you will see that your website ranking begins to drop. And the reason why this happens is next: the search engine does it to prevent people from spamming directories. So you need to avoid directory submission spamming, if you really want to improve your website ranking. You don't have to submit to all the directories in one day, but try to spread the directory submission for a few months. Here is an example, instead of submitting 50 directories in a day or week, you can submit them in 3 weeks. In this way you will get backlinks slowly, but SE like you to get backlinks slowly and gradually. Getting backlinks in a short time can send red flag and your website will be penalized.

just check fast approval directories. Just directory links are harmful but you can mix with 10:90 ratio. 50 links are enough per week.

There is not specific number for directory submission but approx 50 submission for a website is good, I think.
