How many directory entries per day?

I'm getting around 150 directory entries per day. Is this average for a PR3 directory?

I'm wondering if the workload of manual approval is worth the effort, given the number of directories around.

    Hello...

If your directory is FREE then i would say this is an average day
with 90% of submittions spam  or sites that are incomplete and all that
    happy stuff.

If your directory is PAID then i humby ask that you share your secrets :D

    thx

Only free directories get that much entries per day :D

If you have paid directories then hardly get 2-6 entries/day IMO depends on popularity of your directories and price ;)

My directory is free by name (www.freelinksdirectory.net) but I charge $1.99 for featured links of which a sell on average one a week.

I have Adsense on the site which averages $10 per month. And I have a banner ad for some of my other sites.

I agree the spam sites need a lot of watching. This has improved since I installed catcha to stop auto submitters.

Question is, I guess, should I charge for all links, or insist on reciprocals, since this would a) stem the flow of rubbish and b) cut the number of entries?

With that url, you can't exactly get away with charging for links. Insisting on recips would be one way to stem the tide, although again that's not what most people would consider to be free. It's probably your best option at this point, as a quick fix.

Otherwise you would need to look into changing your script to introduce other spam-busting techniques: word filters, blocking by IP and domain, and so on. There's a lot you can do to cut the junk that gets submitted, but it will take you time to find and install some mods, or even upgrade to a different script.

Free directories attract Free Loaders, and they in the main, not all, abuse the Directories they submit to with a cacophony of free submittals ranging with content from the largest p*n*s in the world to smallest MFA Site in the World

We had a free directory that got over 20,000 submittals in a very short timeline ................but where was the quality ..........well we are still looking for the quality

99% of Paid Directories are managed by professional Directory Owners who focus on quality before quantity

Submissions on Paid Directories vary according to the business days but for our Directory on Tuesday's, Thursday's, and Sunday always bring in steady business

Yup! That's about average for a free directory. I offer free and paid spots and just finished reviewing 127 submissions that came in last night. Of the 127 submissions, only 22 were approved and acceptable for my directory.

I love to review sites and get to see all manner of junk and gold like everyone else.:)

You're pretty strict letting only 17% of entires in. I wonder if you're getting spammed. I delete on average around 30%. I find that the quality of the titles and descriptions is a good indication of the quality of the sites. I have a policy of not allowing finance, porn, gambling, most real estate and any site that looks too junky, but anything that looks like it has had some work put into it and is obviously bonafide gets through..

As a web publisher, my main joy from the directory is seeing just what is going online at any given time. It's amazing to see, really.

free directories are not bad. I delete 60% of the submitted links daily, but some of them buy regular links also. It's always good to provide a paid option.

    Hi Rod!

Yes, I'm very selective with my free positions, once in a while one may slip by me that I wouldn't want included, but I catch them sooner or later. I'm really trying to maintain a high standard or as high as possible that is.

I think as I continue this trend it will add more value to my premium link customers links which are always above free listings. I still review each and every submission and truly enjoy seeing what is submitted to my directory whether I add it or not.

My free directory is listed in several directory lists, including directorycritic and addurl.nu, but gets only about 30 submissions per day. So I have time to review each submitted site.

i tried to add my site in the more than 200 directories but i take nothing backlink from these directories , but they misuse my email address to send me spam about 50 spam mail every day. question is : how can i make backlink from other sites with the same subject or interst.
    but...
i have also directory in pr3 with different traffic, i think traffic on a site is not direct related with Page Rank.

my free PR0 directory get average daily 180 entries so I think yours is a normal and I have about 30% low quality website. I like to see others work and will appreciate those who spend time or money to make a website that has something to offer.
