No they are not. Directories are old news... google has hit directories just like they hit other sites attempting to manipulate search engine algorithm.... Personally, I would not submit to directories, period. There are other sites that high authority that would worth your time, and money... I do not feel you will make much progress if you submit to directories. you can not waste your time submitting your site on free sites, those methods simply do not work anymore, and have not for some time now.... You have to be very selective with your link building, and if you expect to be on any "authority" sites, then you better open up the wallet....
What they have "hit" are the web sites abusing the system and individually "attempting to manipulate search engine algorithm". No particular site owner can say for sure what exact form of "manipulation" got them hit. If Google really wanted to take out the individual directory they would have done so in the same fashion. The site owners complaining about their sites taking a hit were doing a lot more than listing in directories. There were numerous types of "manipulation" taking place.
Can you be more specific how directories are manipulating algorithm? What makes you an authority on directories? Do you own or run any? Please define "authority" sites. fastreplies
all depends of quality and relevant ....if your website is about gold and you will submit it to directories about cars and you will submit it to 3k of them then you will definitely get penalized..
Yeah right, and I'll have a top actress as my wife by tonight... Mine gets 100k of traffic per year, but it took 11 years to reach that. Infact 100k a year is more than most booking sites will ever see. So it pays to research every site, I know its a drag but it really is the only way, you need to question the site owners to get the facts.
