something i read in one of the threads and then something someone told me!!! never really thought about "how to" in this regard
When .info domains are no longer a dollar. you will see a lot of them vanish. Let's see, 2,500 x $10.00 average is $25,000 dollars, does this sound correct?
1 takes enough hard yakka, but I also have a niche and am in development of a directorylist, but that will definitely be it.
Haha, I couldn't agree more with what you have said. If everyone had 2500 directories, would any of them ever get traffic? Nope! And this post is pointless. "How many directories should a person own?" I own zero because well I don't want any. This is determined directly by the individual. Would a more precise question you possibly intended be: "What is the maximum number of directories an individual should own?"
Kind of an ambiguous question. There are too many unknown variables to give a good answer. One can own as many as they can reasonably manage. Companies can hire editors to work the directories and with such help a person could "own" quite a few. Now assuming you are talking about a one person shop the answer would be very different and would depend on the time available to work on them. It would also depend on the stage of development the directories were in. I would say that there is no way any single person operation could start up any more than one good quality directory at any given time. The demands during the building stage are just too great to be involved in trying to start more than one up at a time. Now if the directories were up and established I could see someone owning and running more but again it is very dependent upon how they are set up to manage them.
Agree 100% with swedal. It all depends on what the person can afford in terms of time, money, marketing etc. I see no point owning something that'd just be laying there neglected.
Either he is trying to kill the directory business or he just had an idea of whatever it maybe. 1 is perfect, up to 3 is fine. I have about 10 or so and I regret doing that.
Depends on the type of directory. I have one general directory and it gets so many spam submissions that it alone would take up all of my time if I hadn't written some code to clean out the spam before I do any approvals. However, I also have some niche directories. Those directories get very few spam submissions and also don't get too many "real" submissions so they're very easy to manage. It would be very reasonable to have 15 or 20 niche directories and keep them clean and well organized.
i have only one directory, but wanna let it go.. good 4 alphabeth .info domain name, but less managed. huhu..
They seem to be running of different databases (although they have most of the same listings, there are different ones). They're all junk though, I wouldn't be surprised if he has an auto-approver, ie, they're link farms. You only have to look at the listings. I voted 1-3. Any more than three and you either have your work cut out for you, or you've got poor editorial standards. The latter of which is dangerous and hence the vote. That is assuming they're general free directories.
I voted 1-3 to maintain and run more would just be too much work. Why have dozens of junky ones? No one will pay to get listed in them and no one will actually spend time reading them. So they are worthless they just suck up your time and hosting and in the end you get nothing..
1-3 If you are running a general free directory the submissions will be so high that running 1 and maintaining editorial integrity will consume all your time. If you are running paid or niche directories then 3 is probably doable. Less submissions equals more time to review/edit/maintain.
It will hell to maintain those number of directories, but 70% of the submissions are spam and approving quality sites one by one will take ages.
