I'd say none. Aren't there enough directories as it is?

2500 directories? I think most of them will vanish soon.

I would say its none of anyone's business to decide who should own what and how much. No one has the right to decide on what must one do with his/her money.

The thread if redirected to QBC's and .info it makes sense to me, rather having a senseless poll for a senseless discussion.

People like that 2500 directory guy are the skid marks on the underwear of the Internet. Exact same template for all, exact same category dump for all, all using the old free version of phpld, hundreds of directories on the same IP, and every page is about 90% adsense/affiliate banners and 10% directory.

And what outstanding editorial quality! : http://www.linkadventure.info/index.php?p=d

In 6 months, me thinks he will regret his decision to register 2500 crappy .info domains.

LOL true that. Personally I am looking to own one directory thats integrated into one of my websites. I guess I could use one for every site that I own but I am kind of scared considering Zebno thinks its not a good idea to own more than 1 or 2...I get that considering im sure its a lot of work...I am beginning to wonder if I will even have enough time.

    I voted.

I would suggest one only, if its a general web directory, a handful if they have a few niches for directories.

I had started 4 general web directories, i personally think i was stupid for doing that though.

Run one or a few sites really well, instead of hundreds or thousands of sites really badly.

Its easy to get over excited about starting new sites, few quid for a domain, another few quid for a script of some sort, ive learned my lesson though.

Im sure most have been through that phase at one time or another, the lets make a load of these because its easy thing, lol

Because the poll is directed to people interested in owning/running a directory.

I have two directories, which are manually edited, I find it hard to control 2, but I would manage with 1 more at the most. But it would be tough, each article I accept takes around 10 min to review!

I think I have been through that like 9 or 10 times in the past year alone...How much time did you spend on your directories on a daily basis?

How many reviews do you get per day/week? Are a lot of them spam and how hard do you look at them? Do you go through every page?

One is quite enough the task, but I can see up to three being a feasible task, as long as there is a budget to invest in them.

    i would suggest one,...
make it and market it well...
and reap the harvest as and when it comes along...

im sure it will give you more $$ and respect among webmasters by having one,
than having 150... or hell 2500 of them!!! ::gulp::

Anyone claiming 2500 directories is definitely running it off ONE single database.

I bet they are selling 'directory submission services' for *gasp* 2,500 *gasp* directories too.

    hahaha What a CJ(conjob)!

has to be, else one would have to login 2500 times to remove atleast (10*2500 = ) 25,000 spam submissions a day!

i heard about this last year i think, when there was a senior member with 50 directories,... he got a custom cms made by a coder here over phpLd i think... but 2500,... is breaking all records!!!

You are correct. The guy has the following link in his sig:
Fastest and Easiest Automated Directory Submitter On The Internet!

And a blurb from his website:

"We submit to 3,327 directories in 2.5 hours!"
