As the title indicates I want to just know about how many directories are there in the Web? Can any one tell me also how many free directories and paid directories are there? post your estimation here(real count )
I have a better suggestion... explain what this was suppose to mean: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=2513464&postcount=15
This means for creating a html directory do not contact you anon! Since you are good at PHPLD(joking there) but I think it would be less than 10,000 Is it correct?
no way to ever know such statistics. and in reference to html driven directories... http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=2522094&postcount=18
I have seen a list with 6,500 but not all where there so a rough estimate would be around 10,000. What this as to do with the thread subject?
well u asked me an estimate ... as no one can really tell how many ... I think we have over 100k directories ... believe me or not we just don't notice... several directories are just there in diff. languages which we never hear off... i have a strong feeling its way way way more than 10k ... and i think its 100k ... there can't be any argument because u can't hav a solid proof.
If you consider every domain with phpld script is a directory, than there are zillion of them(but than you can consider every1 wearing Nike is M.J.) Imo there are no more than 1k, real directories that owners pay attention on.
and how many paid directories are there? can anyone give a rough count Since I need to eliminate paid directories from the algorithim
you want a smartass answer? fine i'll give you one. it has to do with it because now we have to count both php driven and html driven web directories as well as all other languages when trying to find all of the directories. now get off my dillz.
Ok, then we also have WSN links, Site-Sift and many more. In the end PHPLD will probably be 25% or less of the total market..
No one has given answer to my question This is important for me as I need to know a rough estimate for my bigoole! if your are interested just see I have posted here about how to create html directories! http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=2524376&postcount=20
http://www.directorycritic.com/paid-directory-list.html you can have a look at this (surely it does not contain all but a big one)
its very difficult to find paid directories in those list also I am looking for a rough count of english driven directories
It's pointless to speculate on something that cannot be accurately counted. I would spend my time worrying about things that are more important than invalid statistics or numbers that have no real value.
Think the question should be how many really count, and time/price vs benefit ratio. I mean it's like a gazillion fat chicks and a couple hotties, but I guess they need love too.
LOLOLOL so funny I think http://www.strongestlinks.com/directories.php it's a good benchmark, so i would risk to say around 300 directories are worthwhile counting paid and free.
