I too use Joomla in 2 years now. Known as mambo before..
As I know phpnuke is a cms with one man developement. And there are many questions about security. And joomla is a team development cms.

I had used phpnuke in 2 of mysites for a long time ago. And after 2months or something my sites were hacked by someone.

    So I recommend Joomla..!

Joomla is very useful once your site is a very large site because then it becomes easy to maintain and Joomla! is very secure as other people have mentioned in this thread.

Another advantage with Joomla! is that it has tons of modules/components that can be installed. So you can install forums, blogs, etc.

Joomla version 1.5 due out this month. Huge upgrade and they are addressing the issue of the slight Apache problem of file ownership. More info on the joomla.org site about this version.

I used Mambo before but it was too packed for my needs then. Will give Joomla a go when the new version comes out but I like this CMS already.

I'm looking forward to the new version 1.5.

I've started using Joomla, and the more I look around the more I'm sure that Joomla is the way to go over Mambo.

When they clean up the internal infrastructure, I'm sure it will be a totally quality product.

well, about month ago, I`ve tried to mount a products review & comparison site with joomla.

after 1 week of research, customizations, mods installation and uninstallation I find that joomla was developed for beginners, webmasters/publishers who like "windows friendly GUI interface".

Look to admin menu. it has too many images, graphics, etc.

try to remove all components or mambots and you will see that index page is totally destructed, and script will show you a php error codes.

Im using other CMSs for my needs.(just wount to advertise it here)

Yes, joomla is for beginners, but this does not mean it is not a powerfull tool in creating websites.

I think commercial CMS are far better, but joomla is an open source CMS that allows me to do anything I want. The code is not perfect but it works for building a moderate website.

In my opinion joomla is the best open source CMS. And I've tried most of them.

Well... not really. There are some big sites with EXPIRIENCE developers that use Mambo/Joomla. For EG: www.porsche.com.br

So what if it has a lot of images, you're not going to stop using windows because its "for beginners". Actually, Joomla! is not for beginners if you try to develop your own mods and components!

Now... why would you want to remove all the mods and components that run the website? Its like removing all the system files of a PC and then saying that its useless.

I think that Joomla! is a great CMS and is almost as good as any commercial CMS if you are "expirienced" enough to create mods to your needs!
