How Many Characters does google display on the natural results for the....meta title and the meta description. I want write both a meta title and description that is not cut off! Or is there a magic number of characters I should aim at.
Refer to the SEOMoz cheat sheet: http://www.seomoz.org/user_files/SEO_Web_Developer_Cheat_Sheet.pdf They recommend up to 70 characters for the title and up to 155 characters for the description.
Right I know the recommendations but exactly how many does google show on the search results. It cant be random I m sure there is a fixed number out there.
It's not that difficult to go count the characters of existing descriptions in search results yourself. You are basically asking us to go count for you.
I counted 69 characters including the ... that show up when you exceed the length. Now who wants to count the Description line? or lines...?
you want to go no more then 57 if you want to make sure everything shows up in search results every-time. For the description you want to have three nice sentences that entice people to click on your link. Don't worry about the number of characters here. Here's a FREE tip for your descriptions: For every eight words make sure you put your keyword or keyword phrase in the sentence. For example: "keyword" blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah "keyword". This is how google decides what to display in the serps, think of it as a block of nine words. On the ninth word if the searched for term is not found, it skips to whatever it appears next. Hope that helps you out. Good Luck.
